Happy to go back

I spent two months at Tharlam Guesthouse and I happily went back five years later. The rooms are very decent, inexpensive, and above all, SAFE. There's free WiFi in all rooms and although it can be slightly noisy because of the monastic rituals that take place on daily basis, that's the reason that makes that place so special!

Nice place in Bouddha

Good location, clean rooms, hot water. The management could be more friendly, but otherwise very good. Nice accommodations for the price. Sunrise on the roof, with the sounds of chanting monks, is a nice way to greet the day. Discounts for stats of 40 days or more.

very good price,very quite location,basic accomodation

Tharlam guest house is inside a monastery and part of it. The rooms (singles,doubles,some with kitchen and private bathroom) offer a basic accomodation(hard beds) but best value for money if you consider that we paid for a double room with private bathroom 800r = 7€ per day. The enviroment is so nice and quite and the location is ideal as you are in Bouddha where the big Stupa is and you can walk four minutes to get there. There is also a nice garden where tables with chairs and umbrellas are there to be used by the customers. There is also free wifi but only if your room is close to reception. If you are not a Buddhist then maybe you will face problem with little pest like coackroaches and mosqitos. Warm water all day but electricity is not continious in Kathmandu. At least here there was a generator up to 10pm every day. We liked the location and the price! Rooms were cool as they had windows front and back. Also monks were very kind and let us in the stupa and show us around!!

Very noisy monks

Great location but can be very load at night with monks playing drums but you get used to it . This hotel is perfect for budget backpackers as it's close to the stupa and market stalls! Wifi isn't great in rooms but works ok in lobby they do laundry and can help with further destinations it's a good stay

Good place to stay

I really liked this place because: 1. it is just next to my favorite place in whole Nepal:Boudhath stupa.2. it is next to monastery.3. it as Clean 4. Staff is helpfull. 5. Price is reasonable. I moved there from noisy thamel and i found calmness and peace here.
