A Great Stay for location, amenities, comfort & price!

My cousins & I stayed at the FAV Kagoshima Chuo Hotel & had a lovely stay while visiting the area where our family lives there in Kagoshima. The hotel was very clean, had a nice, helpful staff & was conveniently located so we were able to walk to the local train station, shopping, restaurants & the port when we took the hydrofoil down to Ibusuki + the ferry to Sakurajima. The room was very well designed, efficient, comfortable, quiet & well appointed. We will definitely stay here again in the future & would recommend it to our friends & family when in Kagoshima.

Avoid if you don’t want to get ripped off

❌ Highly Overpriced and Cramped – A Disappointing StayRating: 1/5
I would completely avoid this hotel. For over $300 USD a night, the value is absolutely terrible and the amenities are a total rip-off.
The Parking Trap
They physically have an available parking spot on-site. They refuse to let you use it. Instead, they force you to go use a nearby paid public parking lot on a rainy day, adding extra stress and costs. The “cheap excuse” they use is they keep the parking spot in case someone with limited mobility arrives, my son just happens to have his knee injured but still no parking….RIDICULOUS
Clogged, Tiny Rooms
We booked a room for four people and it was completely unlivable.
The space is so incredibly small that you cannot even walk to the toilet without tripping over bags or each other. There is zero room to breathe, let alone unpack.
Ridiculous Breakfast
Paying a premium luxury rate of $USD 300+/night usually means a decent morning meal. Instead, they serve you a cheap hot dog for breakfast and a concentrated juice plastic cup. It is genuinely insulting for the price point.
Verdict: Absolutely not worth the money. Look elsewhere in Kagoshima for a place that actually respects its guests and matches its price tag.

Great location near the Kagoshima-Chuo train station

My husband and I stayed in the comfortable, seventh-floor, twin room for 5 nights. It’s in a good location, just 2 tram stops from the Kagoshima-Chuo Station. There was a combined kitchen, living space and bedroom furnished with a flat screen TV, lounge, and coffee table, which was perfect for using our laptop and charging our mobile devices. The kitchenette was equipped with a small fridge freezer, kettle, electric cooktop and microwave. There was a washing machine /dryer and several detergent pods. There were plenty of powerpoints and USB ports in our room which was very helpful as we have multiple devices. We were very happy with the friendly and helpful service from the staff at reception and housekeeping. Our room was serviced fully once during our stay and on every other day our rubbish was collected and towels were changed. There was an amenities bar next to reception with supplies of toiletries, towels, yukata and slippers. This is a great option for a central Kagoshima stay.

The staff was exceptional friendly and helpful. The room was great (spacious) for a family of 4.

Great staff who can speak both English and Japanese fluently and very helpful. The laundry machine included in the room is very nice as it can wash and then dry. The kitchen is fully furnished and so nice there's a fridge. One of the best hotels I stayed at!
