Excellent

This a review for the restaurant within the Chishaku Council Hall (Saryo Kikyo- we did not sleep/stay at the council hall/hotel. Lunch was very tasty and casual. You'll need someone who speaks Japanese to phone and reserve for you, however. The Chishakuin garden across the parking lot from the hall was wonderful and wonderfully uncrowded.

In today's world, it's just not right for customers to take off their shoes in about 20 to 30 minutes for lunch.

The temple is huge and magnificent, but the dining room is packed into the great hall ... it's like just a group dining room. It's a stop for lunch, but the food is often made cold and tastes bad. Is the tour company cutting the price? It wasn't much lunch. It's not very accommodating ... it's just a touring group ... The resting place is extremely small even while waiting for the bus to be dropped off after meals, there are lines for both toilets and men, sorry for the long lines for women! The lobby was small, there were few chairs ... it wasn't a very relaxing place. It was so hot out there, I had to stand there and stay inside ... it was an inconvenience.

The experience of buddism ceremony was priceless!

At first, this is not a hotel you imagine. The accomodation is run by the temple Chishaku-in. You can stay in japanese style tatami-mat room. Wide enough for 2 people. Each room doesn't have private bathroom but there is a big common bathroom in the building. Their breakfast was pure japanese style and very nice. You can also ask them a dinner if you like (min.1500yen- not expensive). I asked vegetarian dinner and it was excellent. But the best thing in this inn is the buddism morning ceremony! You can join in the ceremony (about 60 mins) early morning with lots of monks and one of the monks will show you around the famous beautiful garden and you can enjoy precious pictures by Tohaku Hasegawa (National treasure!) before breakfast. It is the previledge only for the guest of this inn. I will definitely come back here again!! Their service is not like 5 star hotel of course, so you need to make your bed(futon) by yourself, but I promise you will get super unique stay.
If you seek something special in Kyoto or if you wanna try a bit of japanese traditional culture(deep one), this is where you should stay;))) Have a nice trip!!

建物は立派だが・・・キャパシティがミスマッチ！

同じ寺院としてなら単なる智積院と云う口コミページだけで良いし、そこに口コミするのであるが、ここはあくまで昼食場所として土産物売場としての利用なので敢えて寺院とは切り離してこの施設のページに投稿します。毎年、六地蔵巡りは同じ企画会社のものに参加しているので数年来、昼食はここばかり⤵。全く、場所としても食事内容としても，旅行社がこれ以上は値切れないと思うほどまで値切っているのか？全てが最低レベル。まず会場、大広間なのだが、たかが昼食のためとは云え、靴まで脱いで上に上がるのは寺の一部なので仕方ないしても、それにしても狭い、全員が着席すると椅子と椅子の間隔が狭く通り抜けが困難、お茶も１列に１ポットしかないので立ってポットのとこに行くのも一苦労。かと云って職員が常に待機している訳でもなく・・・極めて不便。お茶も生ぬるくて不味い、料理は如何に団体向けとは云え、作り置きで味も不味い、白米は冷えていて固まっている。色どりだけ揃えたと云う程度の内容。食後も休憩スペースが超狭くて椅子の数も知れている・・・立って時間待ちしている人が多数。トイレも女性については(男性用との比較で)不平等に長蛇の列が毎年、出来ている。ここはこれだけの人数を一度に受け入れる体制が出来ていない会場。相当、値切られているのが窺える。料金を上げても良いのでせめて年初の都七福神巡りを企画している他の旅行社程度の昼食にはすべき。安かろう！不味かろう！は流行らん！これでは大本山の看板が泣く。来年からはこの旅行社のツアーの昼食は寺院側からお断りしたら如何か？
