Capsule Hotel & Sauna, founded in 2014 in Gion Shijo

Capsule Hotel & Sauna located along Shijo Street. This time, only the sauna was used. The sauna front desk is located on the 6th floor, the lockers are large and the facility is very spacious and clean.
Major renovation work was completed a few years ago, and besides the large sauna, there is a sauna on the roof and plenty of outdoor bath space. The Jacuzzi on the top floor offers a great view of Kyoto City.
Great sauna that you should definitely use again.

Lacking gayness

Nice place to soak but that is it. Much like any other onsen. The dry saunas were impossiblely hot at 85 degrees plus. Overall I would not recommend the place as a gay venue and suggest there are better places in Kyoto such as near the main JR station.

Amazing great place to stay.

This is a wonderful capsule hotel experience. This is a large multi floor men only facility. I chose it for the spa amenities, price value, distance to the subway station (Keihan line) and walking distance to some sites. Older interior but well maintained and very clean. WiFi works. Spa areas on two floors offer steam room, sauna, hot tubs/cold tubs/salt tubs and jacuzzis. Breakfsast buffet food options were great and should satisfy everyone and any needs. The restaurant is open very late and serves alcohol. The dining area was large as was the lounge area. I would also recommend exploring the neighborhood. There are some good eats within walking distance on both sides of the river. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke English. It appeared that the guests were a mix of business and tourists. Small lockers are available and luggage storage available. Pajamas, slippers, towels, toiletries, razors, toothbrushes, hair combs/brushes etc are all provided and as I learned were some of the capsule life rules. There is a separate city tax that is charged that may not be clear when making your reservation. There are designated smoking areas , closed door rooms on each floor that were not intrusive. Check out all the wonderful pictures others have posted and enjoy your stay. I would stay here again.

Very, very good capsule hotel!

I've been here almost one week, my upper capsule was always clean and comfortable. They provide EVERYTHING, you don't need to bring shampoo or toothbrush and towels as they have everything. They provide a special pajama to wear inside the capsule hotel. Staff is very nice and available to help, very good willing to do the best for you. Much appreciated! Anyway - but this is a problem on all Japan - the level on spoken English is still quite low and sometimes it is hard to have a proper conversation... still it's funny!
Breakfast in decent, full of Japanese style food. I'd definitely will come back if I would pass by Kyoto again!

Excellent

Great location in the heart of Gion...men only place...great facilities...rooftop Jacuzzi and salt spa....3 further pools and sauna inside in communal bathing area...excellent breakfast included..staff very friendly...first time in capsule hotel...beds really comfortable...no problems with noisy guests pop in the earplugs and off you go...great value
