The first night of the trip to Shikoku Castle

The hotel in Matsuyama just sleeps, so I came here without expecting anything cheap. However, this is pretty good for staying alone. Parking is 700 yen for 24 hours and there is a free drink bar on the ground floor. I haven't eaten breakfast but it's 600 yen. Wi-Fi is available, of course. And most importantly, the men have a large public bath on the 10th floor where they pour Dogo Onsen. There is also a sauna and a self-low tub with chairs for outdoor baths. He goes in three times. Matsuyama Castle can also be seen from the indoor public bath.

Excellent place for a fairly good price.

I spent my weekend here to attend a wedding nearby and it was a fantastic stay. The room was exactly what's shown in the photos. It was very spacious for a solo traveller. There were amenities as well as body care products at the reception for you to take (4 items per night). The bathroom was quite clean and wide too with shampoo, body wash and conditioner provided. The A/C was really powerful and fast, perfect for staying in summer. Inside the room was also a desk, mini fridge, kettle, cups and glasses as well as a hairdryer for you to use. The window was large and curtains shut out the light pretty well.
The hotel itself is a little difficult to find (from the side street of Okaido) but it's easy to get around seeing as it's in the middle of the city. Walking to a tram stop won't take more than 5 minutes. I highly recommend this hotel.

Best value for money on this trip

We normally avoid business hotels in japan but this is really very good value for money. The location is perfect, near the Okaido shopping arcade and near a tram line stop on line number 5 connecting the jr station to dogo onsen. Furthermore the cable car to the castle is only a short walk away.
The whole area is teeming with nice small eating places. Just beware that most only open after 5-6 pm. If you want lunch or breakfast the shopping arcade is the best bet. The hotel breakfast is ok (800 yen) but not very special.
The women onsen bath (free for hotel guests) on 2nd floor was really nice and has also a little outside area and a sauna. For the price we paid, this hotel was fantastic value.

Typical Business Man's Hotel

If you want the attractive price and location then be prepared for the typical business man's hotel sized rooms! If you want a bigger room then be prepared to pay two or three times more at another hotel! It's as simple as that.
The hotel is well located next to the arcade and not far from a tram stop and the price is reasonable. The men's Onsen is on the roof but the ladies is on 2nd floor. Good value.

Very small rooms but... very big free onsen !

We spent 2 night with my wife and my little child in this big business hotel.
It is well located, closed to the businesses and the night district, and there is a free onsen on the roof (for men ; women are in 2nd floor). That is why we had chosen this hotel and we do not regret it, as Matsuyama is the city of onsen !
However, the front desk does not speak very good english, and the room are very small, and full of diverse furnitures... But very clean, and you can boil your tea or coffee in the room. To drink a beer or eat something, you have more space in the 2nd floor space. The price of 8.400Y per night for this small room is justified by the service you have and the onsen.
