Authentic high-class Japanese inn
I have been here several times. It is one of the few traditional high-quality Japanese inns these days. The location is very quiet, so there is no noise at all. The approach to the entrance, the entrance, and the corridors to the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The inside of the building is very clean. The floors are sparkling and there is not a speck of dust. You can clearly see that the veteran staff are carefully cleaning until the last minute of check-in time. There are no gaudy decorations, and there are subtle gems here and there, and even one flower...It is a sophisticated decoration that has been stripped of all unnecessary elements. The spring water is a natural hot spring, so it is very rich and wonderful. Check-in is at 2pm and check-out is at 11am, so you can take your time. It has been renovated and updated many times since its establishment, so the bathroom and toilet are new. There are also rooms with beds. There are two types of room wear, a yukata and a top and bottom, so you don't need to bring pajamas. The food is simply amazing, not ostentatious, makes use of the ingredients, and the presentation is not overly staged, so you can picture the face of the person cooking it. They also have plans with smaller portions, which is helpful. You can choose between Japanese or Western breakfast. The quality of the staff is excellent, and they have a warm and just right sense of distance, so even in these times of labor shortages, they have managed to secure the necessary personnel and behind-the-scenes staff. The young staff were also doing their jobs well. This is a valuable inn that I hope will continue in the future.

It was very relaxing.
It was a very spacious inn. Above all, the staff were very friendly and I had a very comfortable stay. As it had just snowed heavily the day before, the Japanese garden covered in snow was very elegant. It was a quiet inn with few rooms, but the rooms were quite spacious and really comfortable.
The food was also very delicious. In addition, a bottle of champagne was very reasonable at 13,000 to 14,000 yen (a hotel in Tokyo would cost more than twice that). Above all, the gin made by a local liquor store (Hasegawaya, Niigata) is excellent, so be sure to try it. Hasegawaya is also about a 10-minute taxi ride away.
The hot spring has a slightly strong sulfur smell, so some people may like it and others may not, but the spring quality is good, so it warmed me up and made my skin smooth. Also, although it has been renovated because it has been in business for over 30 years, some parts feel old. That's also a nice touch.

Location was quiet and felt surrounded by nature. There are only 10 rooms and it’s as private as private gets. The outdoor onsen was great and the room huge and comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast was unsurpassed. Absolutely satisfied!

New Year Planning
I was most hurt by the inefficient and false communication by the staff. Knowing that New Year’s is a difficult time to plan a trip with family members, I was misled and given false hope that there would be rooms only to know a day later there are in fact no rooms. The ryokan just apologised but makes no effort or initiative to help solve the problem. When they told me they cannot accommodate my party, they chose the excuse of not being able to handle the large capacity in the kitchen. I wonder whether hotel or ryokan never plan for 100% occupancy rate? This has been the most truly disappointing planning I have ever experienced in Japan, yet they don’t feel like they need to be responsible for their actions, what they said and how they handle customers. I sincerely hope no one would ever have to endure the agony I went through with Yumeya. The truth is too there are so many choices of ryokans, if they do not want my business, I turn elsewhere.

Perfect place of stunning beauty in which to stay
One of the best private inn near Niigata. This place has been built to exemplify the soul of Japan. Bright and airy with beautiful traditional rooms. An exceptional shared ( communal onsen) bath which is outside. Every aspect is designed to make you feel at one with nature. The dinner was exceptional - as delicious as a Kyoto kaiseki without the fuss.
