Nice Surprise!
What a wonderful experience! The rooms were very simple but comfortable (just a mattress on the floor and a small rack to hang clothes, along with an air conditioner). There was a line of shared sinks in the hallway (complete with hair dryer), a community toilet room, and individual shower rooms in the hallways. While this may sound like meager accomodations, the hosts and camaraderie of the other guests more than made up for what you might think you would miss. There was a shared common room ("living room"), small dining area, and small kitchen that we were able to make use of, along with the other guests. What fun to brush your teeth next to a new friend from Spain, or sip coffee and swap travel advice with someone from the Czech Republic! There were plenty of towels, washcloths, dishes, etc. available for our use, and our bedding was washed and changed every couple of days. A patio with table and chairs, along with a small burner where our group made curry one night, was just outside. There were a couple of washing machines available for our use -- although we had to hang our clothes out to dry, four floors up a winding staircase, on the rooftop. No matter! There was a "dumb waiter" elevator to send the clothes up or down, and the view from the top was spectacular! (Guests frequently made use of this extra outside space to just "hang out" and enjoy the fresh air.) What made our stay special, though, was the hosts! We were clearly guests in their home, and they made us feel so welcome. One day my husband and I had a late start and needed to catch up with the rest of our group. The owner generously and graciously loaded us up in his van, along with my husband's wheelchair, and drove us to the best train station to reach them sooner. It was that "above and beyond" service, always kind and gracious, that won our hearts. More than that; our friendship and loyalty! Side notes: Our family of 4, including two teen boys, was traveling with a larger "class" group. We were able to easily take short walks either to the train station or to local grocery stores, restaurants, or other shops.

Converted dormitory?
Hard to find but email from Guesthouse has details. No formal entrance. Enter via dining room. Owner Tom and Kimi friendly. Very basic bedding. Clean. You have to be able to accept shared washroom and co-ed shared sinks.

Great place to stay and awesome traditional restaurant just around the corner!
The place was great. Good facilities and very clean. Less than 5 minute walk from Akado-shogakkomae station. Lovely owners too who speak good English. Our rooms were simple but very comfortable and lovely and warm. There is also an amazing traditional japanese restaurant just around the corner where you sit on the floor - walk past the 7/11 to photo studio and turn right, the restaurant is around 20 meters down the street - look out for a dinosaur at the door. We found it by complete accident and were absolutely thrilled as didn’t see a restaurant with seating on the floor anywhere else in Japan.

Terrible (2/10): la peor experiencia en Japon / The worst experience in Japan
Una experiencia muy mala. Nos fuimos 2 antes de lo previsto porque estuvimos muy incómodos. No os aconsejamos ir. Vamos por partes.
Alojamiento / Accomodation
Éramos un grupo de 5, cuando reservamos ponía que tendríamos una habitación familiar de 22 m2. Cuando llegamos vimos una habitación de unos 12 m2! Tuvimos que dejar las maletas fuera de la habitación porque no cabíamos. Pasaba lo mismo en todas las habitaciones. Tiene a los huéspedes hacinados. Además La cama doble era de 1,30m. No había sábanas ni fundas de almohada. Nos dijo que era las sábanas japonesas (pero en los otros 10 hostales de Japon siempre nos han dado
sábanas)
Pocas comodidades: pocos baños y duchas y una cocina muy pequeña. Lo mejor: Tiene un buen patio para tomar cervezas.
Limipieza / Cleaning
Sucio. La limpieza deja mucho que desear. El suelo de la habitación lleno de polvo. Los baños olían bastante mal. La mesa del comedor al lado de las basuras. Además sensación de desorden, pues todas las maletas de los huéspedes estan en los pasillos. Podéis ver las fotos para ver que es verdad.
Relación calidad precio /
Caro. Hemos estado en otros 2 albergues en Tokyo: uno por el mismo precio y el otro más barato. También lavar la ropa es muy caro encomparación con otros sitios. Nos salió por booking oferta genius y por eso lo cogimos, pero una estafa.
Staff
Son simpáticos hasta que te das cuenta que te han engañado. No nos penalizaron por cambiar la reserva e irnos antes, pero no son sinceros con lo que ofrecen.
Localización/ Location.
No es la mejor en Tokyo. Parada de JR a 17 minutos y una de metro a 3. Pero alejado de las principales zonas y con pocos restaurantes en la zona.
