Review of Paradise
I am impressed by the whole facility, the food and the staff.
The mood is extremely relaxed.
I would particularly like to praise: Walter, Charlie and Franco!! and Dominique, who led us wonderfully through the jungle! For people who love adventures (= about 10 meters from our balcony were two sloths and iguanas to be seen at eye level), good food and great atmosphere, just the thing!- Ludwig and Renate

Female solo traveler review
This hostel is quite unique. Getting there can be a bit tricky since you need to arrange a water taxi to reach it directly, but the experience once you arrive is worth it.
The staff were definitely the highlight, Juan and Jesús are amazing hosts. The views are spectacular, and the pool area is beautiful and very comfortable. I also loved the food, and the overall vibe felt very social without turning into a party-heavy atmosphere. Extra points for offering female-only dorms.
As for areas of improvement, the rooms tend to retain a lot of heat and humidity, even though each bed has two small fans. The bathrooms can also have some unpleasant odors at times. Climbing the stairs to the rooms with two large backpacks felt a bit unsafe, especially if you’re traveling solo.
There’s also a large area currently under construction. While I didn’t experience any noise during my stay, it did make the hostel feel smaller than expected compared to the photos. Mosquitoes are quite common in the area (which is normal for the region), and dinner is served at a fixed time with other guests who sign up in advance, which felt a bit unusual.
Overall, I felt comfortable and had a really good experience. It’s a special place, especially if you’re looking for a social yet relaxed atmosphere surrounded by incredible views.

Maximum disappointment
We booked through Airbnb accommodation that was advertised as complete with private bathroom. Upon arrival, the reality was different: shared bathroom, excuses of “computer error” and overbooking. An already disappointing situation, but the worst was yet to come.
The next day, reviewing the reservation, it is and realizing that it was not well specified that the bathroom was shared, as you had to open the image to see the small print that is hidden from the naked eye, which we decided to claim to rbnb to fix, and that it does not happen to other guests or tourists.
By claiming the next day (in less than 24h), not only did they not take responsibility, but (David ) customer service based on lies and as retaliation they have taken us out of the “upgrade” room where they had housed us as compensation for their own overbooking error.
But the most serious thing was that they've taken us out while we were away, entered our room and taken out all our belongings, moving them to another room arbitrarily, without warning,
Supervision, nor our consent, Opening your personal space and moving your things without permission is not a minor detail, it is a total violation of privacy. It was a very unpleasant, invasive and sincerely violent situation.
In addition, the accommodation is in the works (something that is never reported), with noises from 7 a.m., even on Saturday, right in the area where we were. Rest was impossible. The room also had a damp smell, an unregulated fan and no curtains.
Airbnb agreed and agreed to 30% compensation, but not only has the accommodation not complied, but it has also not had the slightest consideration to apologize.
It's not just about money. It is about respect, humane treatment and responsibility. We are on vacation, we were coming with enthusiasm, and this experience was not only disappointing, but also ruined part of our trip.
The setting may be beautiful, but the experience at Bambuda Lodge has been deeply negative. Lack of transparency, poor management and customer service that leaves much to be desired.

Lamentamos profundamente que su experiencia durante las tres noches no haya sido positiva desde ningun aspecto. Deseamos aclarar que, efectivamente, tuvimos un problema de overbooking, lo que resultó en un upgrade a una habitación con baño privado para las primeras dos noches de su estadía. Esta información fue comunicada a su llegada, y usted aceptó el cambio sin inconvenientes. Antes de su llegada, también consultó si su habitación contaba con baño privado, lo que indica que había cierta confusión respecto a su reserva original.
Al día siguiente, usted expresó que había reservado una habitación con baño privado y que no deseaba cambiar de habitación, ignorando la comunicación que le hicimos al momento de su llegada. Cuando mencionó que nunca reservó una habitación con baño compartido, procedimos a reportar esta situación a Airbnb, y su respuesta fue la siguiente:

As per your request to cancel your stay at 6 PM on your second day, we only charged the travel agency for two of the three nights. As we mentioned previously, we were awaiting confirmation from the travel agency regarding your refund. The refund process was initiated without their confirmation, based on your request. Booking.com advises against using third-party services due to potential issues like this. We also extend our sincerest apologies for the maintenance work on our deck during your stay, as well as for the inclement weather. Please rest assured that we only charged the travel agency for one night, as you requested. Any evidence for your refund that the travel agency request to you from our side we will be happy to share. Once again, we offer our most sincere apologies for any inconvenience you experienced.

If you enjoy disappointment, this is your paradise
And then came the highlight of a bad comedy show: we were asked to leave the moment I posted an honest, critical review about our experience. Apparently, feedback here is about as welcome as a monsoon during beach season. A quick look at other negative reviews shows a rather impressively consistent pattern: handling criticism does not seem to be their strongest talent. When we tried to talk to (?) Victor, he walked away and made comments that we experienced as inappropriate and disrespectful toward women.
If you’re seeking luxury, professionalism, hygiene or even the most basic level of hospitality, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. But if you’re in the mood for a stay that feels like an unfriendly, overpriced and overhyped reality show by influencers, congratulations, you’ve found the perfect place.
Bambuda Lodge looks nothing like the fancy influencer style photos on Booking. The so called jungle waterslide is absolutely not the magical ride they claim it is; it was literally just a loose blue tarp thrown on the ground, and of course, not open for use. The entire hotel felt old, run-down, and absurdly overpriced.
When we arrived, we were completely ignored. After wandering around awkwardly, we just sat down somewhere because no one bothered to acknowledge us. When my friend finally approached the bar to ask for help, she got an attitude-filled comment about how “normal people check in at reception first.” Very welcoming.
On top of that, guests were casually smoking joints by the pool, which really added to the atmosphere. This place seems more suited for the “I found myself during my backpacking trip” type of traveler, not for anyone expecting even a hint of the comfort or luxury shown in the photos.

Thank you for your detailed review Karen. We sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations during your visit. We would like to clarify that you did not stay with us as a registered guest. An exception was made for you and your friend to use our pool during the day. It is important to note that you arrived one day later than your scheduled visit and were informed that we were undergoing renovations. Despite this, you chose to proceed with your visit. Additionally, upon your arrival, you were advised to register at the reception, which you did not do. When we requested that you complete this registration, your response was not conducive to a positive experience for our staff. We have rules and policies that all our guests follow but in this case you were not willing to follow. We also received complaints from other guests regarding your demeanor. As the safety and well-being of our guests and staff is of utmost importance, we made the difficult decision to ask you to leave but you said you wanted to come back next day. Our establishment is dedicated to providing a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy their time and create positive memories, we are sorry we did not looking for this on your visit. Again our most sincere apologizes! :)
