This is a unique hotel. It's out of the way, on the edge of the jungle on a beautiful deserted beach. I walked for 5 km on the beach and saw 2 people,

The online 1-star rating is not really justified. Although basic, this place is worth the $55 fee. The Hotels.com experience is to be avoided, they overcharged on the rate. The room was basic, the bed below average, but seeing the many species and number of sea birds in the early morning is a treat. The dirt driveway to the site is a biet of a pain.

Awesome off-the-beaten-path hotel and restaurant near Santa Catalina

Very cool spot in between the jungle, a river and the ocean. Great pool and lots of nature to explore. The beach only comes in twice a day (be prepared) but is warm and relaxing when it does come in. The restaurant is excellent. If you want to get to nearby Santa Catalina for surfing, snorkeling, shops and restaurants you need a car or must use their shuttle.

Owner was a super kind guy.
Room was small, dirty and full of bugs. Felt very over priced. Restaurant had good food, hard to communicate as no staff speaks english but its understandable!
No shuttle or way to transport into town. We had to hitch hike and we ended up leaving early cause it was so inconveniently located.
Place has lots of potential. Could be a super rad get away/ party place with some love.

Appears desolate and abandoned?

We went to check out this hotel and restaurant. The website photos make it seem wonderful. The property is isolated and quite beautiful but not kept up really at all. Everything seems in disarray. It is located down a long two track lane that would require something other than a standard car if muddy. We walked around the property and to the beach. The permanent beach chairs shown on the website are virtually swallowed in sand and broken. While we didn’t go inside any of the buildings we did walk around. There was a man on a hammock in the restaurant on his phone ... not sure who he was but he never looked up. Perhaps a guest or caretaker? Didn’t see anyone else. This would be a lovely place with some care and attention. I would be very shocked had I booked our vacation here.
