A Splendid Hotel.
We spend 60-70 nights a year in hotel rooms. Before I retired, possibly more. We think we know when a hotel is exemplary. This one fills the bill. It is not quite luxurious, but very comfortable. The staff is genuinely kind and alert.

An old building along a lovely square has been meticulously and thoughtfully decorated. The lobby has a slightly art deco vibe Our room, with sound deadening double window/doors, overlooking the square kept the traffic noise out. A very comfortable bed, a small serviceable desk and a decent closet net our temporary needs.
The W.C. was not too skimpy. A magnificent rain water shower room kept the water where it belongs. Ample lighting ,a generous sink and truly luxurious towels all reflect real regard for travelers.
The breakfast room was cheerful, and rhe service was fine if not exceptional.
A major asset is the garage built into the hotel. The parking spaces are not stingy and the lighting is fine. I would have preferred a cleaner garage floor, something that can and should be corrected with a vacuum and broom in leas than an hour.
With a central location, fair value and a professional staff, this hotel is highly recommended.

Lack of values - Didn't do the right thing
We had a medical emergency (life threatening) and had to unexpectedly cancel our trip which was to celebrate a special anniversary. We were cancelling more than 3 months in advance and our trip was booked for the high summer season so rebooking the room would not have been an issue for them. Whilst all other hotels (regardless of whether we had booked non-refundable or not) showed incredible compassion to our situation. This hotel was the ONLY hotel to refuse our request despite documentation from the hospital and doctors. Who you choose stay with (and give your money to) should be a value-aligned decision. Please think twice about whether you want to stay at a Hotel Francois Premier where they clearly prioritize rules and profiting on the misfortune of others vs doing the simple, right thing.

Unfortunately, you declined this proposal. Instead, you informed us that you would post negative reviews on review websites if we did not issue a full refund.
Our role is to provide hospitality, not insurance. We fully understand that unforeseen and sometimes very serious circumstances can prevent guests from travelling. For this reason, we always strive to find fair and reasonable solutions, balancing compassion for our guests' situations with the booking conditions they knowingly accepted.
Furthermore, many Visa credit cards include travel insurance covering certain cancellation circumstances, including serious illness or hospitalisation. We therefore suggested that you contact your card issuer to determine whether your card's insurance policy could cover your claim.
We also regret that you have chosen to express such a negative opinion of our hotel despite never having stayed with us. Your review stands in sharp contrast to the many positive comments left by guests who have actually experienced our hospitality.
We would genuinely have been pleased to welcome you at a later date and give you the opportunity to discover our hotel under better circumstances. The bar opens at 17.00 hrs to Midnight lots cognac and there is secured parking. Good breakfast selection

Ideally located in the heart of the city
Ideally located in the heart of the city, this hotel is very easy to reach, including parking within the hotel. Attention parking can be quickly saturated and spaces are not allocated. If complete, it will be necessary to park outside and the hotel will refund parking accordingly.
The room was comfortable with good bedding.
The staff was very nice and friendly.
Don't miss a visit to the hotel bar where you can taste many cognac under the advice of the bartender.

Overnight stay in Cognac
The hotel is in a very prominent position situated in the town centre on a very busy roundabout, the traffic noise made sleeping difficult. We chose not to spend much time in the room because of the noise, it was noisy when the windows were closed and then the room was stuffy fresh air was an issue.
The room was clean however the bathroom had some series mould problems and the top of the shower head was thick of dust. I felt the bathroom was not adequately cleaned making me feel uncomfortable. Parking is good and recommended. Hotel staff are nice. The hotel breakfast is recommended lots of choice.
After dinner we called at the hotel bar for drinks requesting two glasses of red wine the first offering was the fag end of an already opened bottle - opened for how long? The barman split this old wine between our two glasses then topped up with wine from a different bottle. I questioned him and insisted politely that I would prefer the wine from one bottle, he was very cross. When I ordered a second glass from his colleague he tried the same trick again. The first barman asked us to leave. With pleasure comes to mind why would I want to stay in place where I'm being taken for a fool. There are plenty of bars to choose from in the vicinity dont go their.
We were recommended to go to La Belle Epoque to eat, unfortunately that evening there was a private function, so no regular chef the food was simply poor, fish not cooked and a plate of processed food. The staff were lovely at the restaurant and changed my food immediately the service was very good.
We were told that the Globe Restaurant is a better choice which is near the hotel. Nice atmosphere.
Unfortunately I won't return.
