Functional and convenient

We stayed for one night en route to Calais which is about an hour away. The hotel used to be part of the old restaurant / hotel building across the courtyard but is now a separate establishment. The hotel is fairly modern with a lift and the rooms are functional if a little dark. Our bathroom had a shower over the bath, which worked well. Breakfast is in the main entrance hall and offered a good selection. The female staff were friendly and helpful. Our broken loo light was fixed immediately. Parking is an extra cost on a first come first served and the space is bit tight. But it was convenient as Montreuil can be a bit congested. The hotel is value for money but slightly lacking in character.

Enjoyed our stay overall.

We stayed as two couples for four nights. Both rooms were very comfortable and kept very clean each morning. The fridge was excellent and had plenty of room , the shower was hot and large , and the bed very comfortable with extra pillows and blankets if required. Plenty of storage area for clothes which is often a problem and a working safe in the room . We reserved parking which is recommended and the car park was locked in the evening. The rooms were at the back of the hotel which overlooked the courtyard which meant they were very quite.
Only negative was there was no bar and the restaurant at the back of the courtyard right by the hotel wouldn't let you walk through or serve you drinks only. They were very rude. The pictures seem to suggest they are linked but it's not the case. I found it very odd you couldn't get a drink here.

Moderate Montreuil

We were looking for a central hotel with parking. This has both, but the car park was very tight for larger cars and was first come first served. There was safe street parking outside though.
The rooms were large and spacious. The room was clean and quiet. More of a traditional French B&B. Felt it was on the expensive side compared to other places I've stayed in the area.

Just like marmite.......You either do or don’t.

Generally our stay was very comfortable the staff in the hotel were very welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable.
What let it down for us was the restaurant. We sat in the courtyard for pre-dinner drinks someone took our order but never came back. We eventually made our way to the restaurant when asked if we had a reservation, I was a bit taken aback as when they had taken our drinks order he asked if we had booked for dinner. My reply was ‘yes and we still haven’t received our drinks we ordered almost 15 minutes ago’. There was a a shuffle and mutter but I had no idea what he said as he didn’t actually address me directly. We sat for a further 10 minutes before menu’s arrived, when taking our order for food I reminded them about the drinks. We believe the food to be very average, service was poor. We really don’t understand all the fuss about what boils down to a very average home style stew.......Breakfast was a similar experience!
The reason we gave 3 stars was for the hotel accommodation. We would stay here again but eat elsewhere.
