Revisited

Came here in 2016 and had a great meal. We were back in the area and decided to pop back for some lunch and were pleased to see that 3 years later in 2019 the quality was still fantastic. Great meal, good value!

It was terrible. Had overlooked there was no aircondition in the room and it was hot and humid. But what made the stay terrible was that there furnace was broken so you could only shower in very cold water.

On arrival we had to try several numbers to get a response
We had no hot water in any of the 3 rooms.
We called and he returned saying it was sorted and we would have hot water after 3hrs but we still didn’t have any in the morning.
We were on 3 motorcycles and had been travelling all day looking forward to a shower.
Then in the morning while we had breakfast they went in our rooms moved some of our stuff and cleaned the rooms ready for the next guests before we even checked out.

The Best Little Hotel in Villenauxe la Grande

For a night or two this is a lovely and affordable hotel. With a good restaurant and great service. Right next to the church that has the unique stained glass. This is one of the special towns in the discoverable region of Aube. A great bread shop around the corner.

Discovered a little pearl in the Champagne region in Departement Aube

In the weekend of 2 – 4 October 2015, together with my neighbor, we went to Villenauxe-La-Grande for our annual tour around the Champagne area.
During our tour we booked a room at the Hotel / Restaurant “Le Flaubert”. A small, but cozy hotel which is owned by an extremely enthusiastic couple Faustine and Kévin. They did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. A job they absolutely succeeded in.
The rooms are small, but nicely decorated, has all features you require for a short weekend stay and, above all, the hotel, the room and bathroom was clean. There is enough room to put your clothes, there is a television, private toilet and shower and a good bed.
The rest of the Hotel as well as the attached restaurant are clean. You can see that the current owner has spent quite some time and effort in decorating both the hotel and restaurant without looking at cost. Quality of the work was high and they have done an excellent job in combining old and modern features. Well done!
The breakfast is actually the only thing I would change a little bit. Although it is very nicely presented at a separate floor of the restaurant, it is rather simple. Croissant, baguette, marmalade, juice, hot chocolate, coffee or tea. I would recommend adding boiled eggs, some cheese and (assorted) sliced cold meat. This would upgrade the value of the breakfast enormously.
All in all, our stay at the hotel, as well as our dinners at the restaurant where a success and I can recommend this to others.
