Horrible service you will experience with no chance to have anything close by
Before arriving, I informed the team several times that it was my birthday and asked if a complimentary upgrade would be possible, depending on availability. The resort was almost empty, yet I was told I had to pay for an upgrade. After paying, I was then informed that my villa wasn’t ready, so I had to wait in another room before being moved again. No compensation or sincere apology was offered.
The service throughout the stay was consistently poor. The receptionist barely acknowledged me during check-in, and there was no warm welcome. My villa was the furthest from reception, making buggy service essential, but calls often went unanswered for long periods. More than once, the explanation was simply, “We didn’t see the phone.” At one point we waited over 15 minutes for a buggy to breakfast and eventually walked ourselves.
The most unacceptable incident was when housekeeping entered our villa without knocking while my friend and I were swimming in our private pool wearing bikinis. Instead of apologizing, the housekeeper simply ran away. For a luxury resort, this is an unacceptable invasion of privacy.
Birthday recognition was almost nonexistent. A cake had been placed in the temporary villa but was never transferred to my actual villa. I also left personal belongings in the first villa for over an hour, and no one informed me—they only realized after I did. These small details are exactly what distinguish luxury hospitality from average service.
The beach bar staff didn’t even know the menu and had to call someone else despite being the only employee there.
The spa was another disappointment. I requested massage for 2 people at 1 PM but was initially refused until I spoke with the manager. Although they eventually accommodated us, the massage cost QAR 920, the most expensive I’ve ever paid in Qatar, yet the quality was nowhere near the price. The therapist’s hands were so rough that they literally scratched my back, making the treatment uncomfortable.
The property itself is stunning, and nature around the resort is beautiful. Unfortunately, beautiful scenery cannot compensate for poor service, lack of attention to detail, weak staff training, and a complete absence of personalization. Habitas markets itself as a place where guests feel at home, but throughout my stay I felt like no one genuinely cared about the guest experience.
For the price charged, I expected world-class hospitality. Instead, I left feeling disappointed on what was supposed to be a very special birthday celebration. I sincerely hope management takes guest feedback seriously and invests in improving service standards, because the location deserves much better.
