Incredible Beach and Snorkeling, but Read This Before You Go
Secret Harbour Beach Resort Review
We stayed at Secret Harbour for a week, August 8-15, 2026, in unit 735, one of the white condo buildings up on the hill overlooking Nazareth Bay.
First off, the beach and water here are absolutely top notch. We went all over St. Thomas and St. John during the week and snorkeled at Magens, Maho, Trunk, Hull, Coki, and Little Buck Island. Secret Harbour had the best snorkeling of all of them. Lots of living coral and easily the best combination of variety and density of marine life.
And I mean a LOT of marine life. Right off the resort we saw a huge barracuda that was at least 5 feet long, a spotted eagle ray around 2 feet across and probably 7 feet long including the tail, a green sea turtle, a group of about a dozen squid swimming together, rainbow parrotfish, and big schools of smaller fish. There were tons of other tropical fish pretty much every time we went out. We also saw some really impressive living coral, including a brain coral around 18 inches across. Most of this was in shallow water maybe 10 feet deep and only a few hundred feet from the beach. You don’t need a boat excursion to see great stuff here.
The beach itself was also our favorite of the trip. Beautiful, clear water and it never felt overwhelmingly crowded. The pool is large, very clean, and was never very crowded either.
The Patio at Sunset Grille was excellent. We ate there multiple times, different times of day, weekday and weekend, different servers, and the food and service were consistently excellent. Great view too. Between the beach, the water, snorkeling, and The Patio, this was by far our favorite place we visited on the island.
Housekeeping was A+. Our condo was always very clean and the cleaning crew did an excellent job.
There are definitely some things that could use attention. Some of the construction/finish work around the property is maybe a C at best. Poor tile work in places, odd ducting and cabling, and just little things that make parts of the property look less polished than they could. In our unit the bathroom door was stained and didn’t close right, and there’s no ventilation in the bathroom.
The WiFi and TV in our unit also never worked right. We alerted the staff and someone came up to look at them, but left knowing they still weren’t fixed. Nobody ever followed up. I eventually used my computer to set up a makeshift router so we could get usable internet in the condo.
I’ve never given this advice in a hotel/resort review before, but if reliable WiFi is important to you, I would seriously consider bringing a small travel router. That sounds excessive, but in our unit it would have been very useful.
Still giving Secret Harbour 5 stars. I’m not going to go to the Caribbean, spend a week on an incredible beach watching giant barracuda, rays, turtles, and squid swim around a living reef, and knock the place because the TV didn’t work and some tile could look better. The things that mattered most to us were excellent.
Would absolutely stay here again.

Horrible experience before I even was able to make the trip
Actually, we planned a trip. Due to medical reasons I could not walk and have to have total knee replacement surgery , we had to cancel. This trip was on our bucket list. Very sad i had to cancel because my injury got worse.. We wanted to be able to walk and sight see. First I called the hotel I spoke to Ms Linda (very short but polite conversation) I stated I needed to cancel due to my injury.. She said no problem you are within the cancellation period for a FULL REFUND. but I needed to cancel through Expedia the third party. I said thank you so much call ended. So I called Expedia...spoke with a impatient , distespectful David, after a HOUR and 1/2 of a unnecessarily long call. First I said you know what instead of canceling let's move the dates to October after my surgery, and change my flights..That conversation is for Expedia review. He told me my flight would increase to $200ish more.. i said ok.then 2 mins later it increased. to approximately $400ish more.. I said why?. and then the hotel reservation would increase by about $2000.00, for same room. I stated just cancel i will redo reservation later he then stated if I cancel my reservation i would have to pay $960ish for canceling hotel and Southwest Airlines was going to keep my money for a credit..i said no..I adv what Linda said.. Now mind you I have only called the hotel once(spoke w Linda) when David reached out to hotel for a full refund per Linda(I dont know what David said to the manager Carmen.. He came back on the line and stated she said for me to NEVER contact her again. And that I needed to send in a certified letter from doctor ..proof of my injury) mind you I was shocked .. I have never spoken to this Ms Carmen..
Now , why would i want to book a later reservation at this resort.. i felt threatened by her words.. and unsafe to stay at this hotel...im still waiting on my REFUND FOR THE FLIGHT. I work in customer service, and if you CAN'T deal w a customer.. you need another job. I will be going to the VIRGIN ISLANDS, but not there. It cost me over $5,000.00 for this trip. And to be disrespected..NOPE, I hope the owner or someone in charge reads this review. First speak to customer, DON'T listen to a 3rd party. Hear say.. $3000.00 this resort lost. I won't recommend simply because of the behavior of the manager Carmen. I did call the resort back same day, spoke to Linda.. i stated you said I could get a full refund.. she said well.. Just let things calm down.. i stated i dont know what you mean..i never spoke to her why would she be spewing hatred by telling me to NEVER contact her.. Linda said just let things calm down. I stated this is ridiculous.. have a good day.. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO PULL ALL THE CALLS.. NEVER will I visit this hotel unless there's a change in management.. NO ONE SHOULD BE TREATED LIKE THOS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO CANCEL.

Best Stay on St. Thomas!
Our family just returned from our stay at Secret Harbour and I can not say enough great things about this resort. First of all, the beach is beautiful and the snorkeling fantastic! The water is very calm and clear, and perfect for children of all ages. One very important note..there isn't any Sargassum at Secret Harbour! Every other beach resort which we visited had Sargassum piling up on the beach, which emits foul odors once it begins breaking down. Check in was quick, our condo was clean and well equipped, and the staff were very nice and helpful. We look forward to returning!

You are correct that Secret Harbour hasn't had the problem that many beaches have with sargassum sea weed. Much depends on the currents and winds and our bay orientation favors us to be sargassum-free. Bad last impression
Overall the experience was pleasant. The rooms were clean and spacious and the views, beach, and snorkeling were outstanding. However, while most of the staff were friendly, some could not be bothered and were very dismissive - or even outright rude. In particular, on the last day of our stay the staff could NOT be rid of us fast enough. Knocking on our doors an hour before check-out asking when we were leaving, and then several times after that even after we told them it would be closer to the check-out time. If you want guests out earlier, then make your check-out time earlier. Left a bad impression at the end of our stay unfortunately.

Amazing beach
Beach was amazing. So if you’re coming for a feast beach this is it. Shallow water with tons of wildlife. Snorkel off the shore. Sting rays. Fish. Perfect really. It’s a secluded bay so there really wasn’t much sargassum. Room was really big ! Bathroom was huge. All tile so nice and cool. We also had a handicapped accessible room and they let us park right in front of the door which really helped us a lot. It was a little bit of an incline up and down the ADA ramps but not too bad. Might be harder if you actually had a manual chair.
The restaurant was decent. Overpriced but of course. Maybe some more gluten free options would be nice.
The only two things I could see
Improve would be some servers from the bar for drinks and some way to keep guests only on one side or at least enforce the no smoking. The cruise ship passengers were annoying and always smoked. If they had to stay on one side that would be better but idk if they can enforce that. At least enforce the no smoking.
Lastly the lady who checked us in was terrible and rude. She seemed offended by our presence. No idea why you’d hire someone like that as a front desk person.
Also there was no ice. I mean is this Europe ??? How is there no ice !!

Thank you for your 5-star review of Secret Harbour Beach Resort. We are thrilled that you were wowed by our beach and all the wonderful undersea wildlife. It is truly wonderful. We love that you enjoyed your condominium and that your party also appreciated the one oceanfront hotel-room that we have for those who need wheelchair access. You mentioned the cruise ship/day visitors being an issue especially as they seemed to smoke. We are a smoke-free environment and we try very hard to only allow smoking in the smoking gazebo located near the restaurant. I'll forward your comment about the front desk and ice. All units do have ice cube trays to make ice. Thank you again for choosing Secret Harbour and for rating us as 5-stars
