Relaxing stay

We’ve had a relaxing time at Rutete Lodge. It’s very likely the best place to stay near the Akagera Park. Rutete Lodge is a heaven, and very quiet. The staff is very kind and the food is delicious.

Akagera home away from home

Honestly one of the nicest places I have stayed in anywhere in the world. The facilities are beautiful, the food amazing and the biggest assset is their amazing staff- friendly, professional and accommodating. It is just a short distance from the National Park and is a lovely place to spend time in when relaxing before and after safaris. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay!

What a special place and what a warm experience. From the first moment we were warmly welcomed by Julienne and David, together with Maëlle, a French-speaking girl who volunteered there. Their hospitality was fantastic: they did everything to make us feel at home.
The lodge itself is beautifully situated, with very nice rooms in a manicured, green garden. Everything is decorated with great taste and care. An extra light in the room might still be useful, but that definitely doesn't detract from the charm. The breakfast was delicious and also in the evening we enjoyed Rwandan cuisine enormously, with a fine European twist.
What really made the difference for us was how involved and helpful they were when we had problems with our car. They immediately thought along and acted, which was exactly what we needed at the time. The lodge is also very close to Akagera National Park, which makes it an ideal base.
Rutete Eco-Lodge is a place with a heart, where you can relax and feel genuinely welcome. Highly recommended.

Amazing service and food

As we are self driving and have a roof top tent, we called to see if we could stay camping there. It was possible ($20 for the two of us) and what a gem. So amazing. The service was incredible very very very friendly. We didn’t see the rooms, but we saw the interior of the lobby and dining place, amazing. Such unique pieces.
The food is yummmm! 4-course meal. 5 stars. You sit with the guests and it was so much fun learning about the other guests. All dishes were made with products from around their garden. For only $15 per person it’s well worth eating here.
The next morning it’s only a 15-minutes drive to the park.

Quelle incroyable découverte.
Notre hôte est une femme exceptionnelle, pleines de vitalité et d'idée.
En plus d'avoir un goût exquis en terme de décoration, elle oeuvre pleinement pour la collectivité locale et l'artisanat.
Son nouveau restaurant est admirable
