No Place Like Home

This was one of the very best experiences I have ever had.
I was not expecting the level of warmth and hospitality that I recieved from Madam Combis. She really cares about her guests and went out of her way to help me on so many occasions.
First of all, the amenities, decor and location at Chez Combia, are perfect. Everything is set out with good taste and thought. I really wasn't expecting the level of comfort, space and hospitality that I recieved. I felt that I was at home.
I happened to stay during the most busiest holiday period- Eid Mubrak. All the restaurants on the island were closed. Madam Combis personally saw to it that food was available for me and I also ate lunch with her personal guests.
I'm so glad I stayed over on the island that bit longer as I was able to connect with people who live on the island and find out what life is really like for them. Senegalese people are so giving. Though they do not have much, what little they have they will share with you.
Altough Goree island is small, it really is worth spending a couple of days, connecting with the locals and getting to see more of the island than you can possibly do in a few hours on a boat trip.

Wonderful!! A MUST in Goreé. Super friendly, Also relaxation massage possible Will always come back. This island is sooo special and quit Coumbis is a wonderful and friendly Person. The Guesthouse is ONE OF A KIND.

Beautiful house,charming hostess, awsome breakfast

This B &B has to be one of our favourite places anywhere in the world. It is a beautifully restored old house, and you have the entire ground floor, bedroom, living room, shower room and dining area. The incredibly gracious and charming hostess lives upstairs, and owns a beauty salon. She gave us excellent advice about sightseeing and dinner- we even got a discount at the restaurant by mentioning her. In the morning she made us the best breakfast we had in Senegal, including fresh fruit, eggs, home made bread, cake and jam, and a sugar-free fresh juice. Air condition, good wifi, after dinner tea, everything is included in the very reasonable price. I also had an excellent aromatheraphy massage ( € 30 for 1 hr). As an added bonus Coumbis speaks English, and is taking classes to improve it further. We wished we could have stayed longer, and can't recommend this b & b high enough!

Urlaub auf einer geschichtsträchtigen Insel

Anders als die meisten Goree-Besucher war ich nicht nur für ein oder zwei Tage auf Insel, sondern konnte die ILE DE GOREE, und damit auch CHEZ COUMBIS, für volle drei Wochen genießen.
In dieser Zeit konnte ich die Gastgeberin COUMBIS als kompetente und überaus freundliche Hausherrin kennenlernen.
Mein Zimmer im Erdgeschoss war komfortabel mit einem bequemen Doppelbett mit Moskitonetz sowie mit einem Ventilator ausgsetattet und verfügte über alles, was ich auch für einene längeren Aufenthalt benötigte. Mir stand ein eigenes Duschbad mit Toilette zur Verfügung.
Alle Räumlichkeiten waren sauber und gepflegt.
Das gemeinsame Frühstück mit frischem Saft und Obst, home made Marmeladen, unterschiedlichen Brotsorten, Wurst und Käse und anderen, inseltypischen Köstlichkeiten war immer eine perfekter Start in den neuen Tag.
Ich konnte mich im Haus wie ein Mitglied der Familie fühlen und werde den ersten morgendlichen Kaffee auf der Haustürtreppe sicher vermissen. Darum hoffe ich auf eine baldige Wiederholung.
