Relaxing, quiet

We stayed here for one night before a meeting. It's at the end of a maze of roads right next to the lagoon. You can walk down the steps and then walk along the lagoon. But it is also nice to just enjoy it from the restaurant/pool area. This is a small hotel with maybe 10 rooms (I didn't count). From the room you won't see much of the lagoon, but I still would recommend the balcony level as you have more privacy. The room was very spacious, having AC, kettle etc. It was clean. Also the bathroom was nice with separated shower. The WiFi did not work very well but our phones had good signal. The pool was nice, not very deep, perfect also for kids. There are no roads nearby so in the night it was very quiet. We slept very well.

A hidden nice place

The first thing is the location. It is bit far from the bay, but is simply relaxing. The villa is situated on the bank of the Arugam Lagoon, with an amazing view. I'm quite surprised to see negative reviews here, as our experience was totally opposite. The staff did their best with available resources, and definitively the small loopholes highlighted in those negative reviews must lie with the management. The front office person gave a fair welcome, and the best thing was that the reservation, additional notes, and especially the room was perfectly noted and done. The TV inside the room was out of order, and the staff attended to it immediately and verified it's working. The pool is not as "infinity" as it shows in the official pictures but can't blame on its condition.
Among all, the chef is the best thing in the villa. He did his job perfectly from the tea to the English breakfast we ordered.
So if you find a relaxing place to spend your night after a surfing day, this is the place. But can't guarantee such on a crowded day, as the open areas are not very spacious.

Reconsider

We left after 15 minutes. We were given the garden view room but paid for the balcony view of pool/ lagoon. Hard mattress, dirty sheets. Stained ceiling. No transparency on website about lack of bar onsite. Had prepaid for 4 nights, and unfortunately, hotel won’t refund any of it. We booked this hotel based on reviews for a bit of ‘luxury’ but compared to our experience with other hotels in Sri Lanka, this really falls short. What you’re paying for is a hard mattress in a basic hotel with limited facilities. Really hard to walk away after paying for this, but didn’t want to ruin our holiday. We are questioning the validity of positive reviews on all the booking websites.

Not worth it. At all

Don't stay here.
The location is terrible, the rooms don't look like they do on the website. Nowhere did it state that it was a dry hotel. We left upon arrival.
My partner and I booked for four nights in the deluxe balcony room.
Upon arrival, we were taken to a garden view room and told that that was the room we had booked.
This room was really not up to standard either and was not representative of the pictures on the website. There were stains on the bedding, the ceiling and bathroom floor and inside drawers.
We had just come from Hotel Sigiraya with far better facilities and location and paid less than Oruwa.
We left immediately. I requested a refund, and even offered to pay for the first night, even though it was the wrong room, in hope of getting a refund. That wasn't to be.
Extremely disappointed.
