Best Hotel in Colombo
The most wonderful, kind, accommodating, professional, knowledgeable, efficient, compassionate hotel staff, from the front desk to the dining area. In particular, Belinda, Suranjan, Melissa, Humaith, Sazni, Shaini, Suranga, Rashmi, Kapila and Patrick made me feel special and cared for with every single interaction we had. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this. Because of them, the Galle Face Hotel is the only one I will stay at when I visit Colombo and I will recommend it to everyone I know. Thank you so much!

Colombo has a LOT of hotel options, and it really is surprising that GFH still manages to survive in its current state. Whilst the historic nature of the building is lovely, this charm wears pretty thin, pretty quickly.
The rooms are small, and noisy. On one side is a local bar, with live music most evenings; and on the other is the hotel restaurants and bars. As I checked out today, there were 6 separate guests complaining about the noise - and the staff could not make any changes.
The rooms themselves are dated, they need new mattresses, carpets and more than 1 lick of paint. The AC is unreliable, and the staff are too. The facilities are poorly maintained- especially when compared to other new hotels close-by.
A beautiful property (at face value), but I’ll stay somewhere else next time.

Terrible service
Was really excited about staying here and on arrival staff were pleasant and showed us to our room, we had a nice swim too. However at dinner we ordered a bottle of wine which never came until we asked again and eventually we got it half way through the main course. Then at 1025pm we were in bed and reception rang demanding a payment for the me and wine. We had assigned it to the room but they said they needed a deposit. With 4 large cases and 4 adults not sure how they thought we would run away without paying? Made us feel like criminals. My husband had to get up and dressed and go to reception to pay. We then were subjected to one of the hotel venues loud singing until midnight. We had to be up at 6am for our flights so this was really stressful as we couldn’t sleep. We had said we needed early checkout so why didn’t they put us in a room on the quiet side of the hotel?? Also the breakfast bag was awful, cheese and tomato’ sandwich, banana and apple and a c

Awesome ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Superb in a word. Over 40 years visiting hotels all over Asia, the GFH is unparalleled for service, location, comfort and value. Having stayed over 100 times for work and leisure, being welcomed and cared for impeccably (compared to other Colombo Hotels) is a delightful experience within a Lanka experience itself. Of note, Mr Nihil Perera, F&B Mgr deserves a medal for his timeless attention to detail, as do the whole team. An unforgettable atmosphere, tradition with divine indulgence. Worst hotel in Colombo
The hotel is old and worn. No beach to speak of. Pool is terribly worn. Hotel was not very busy , yet the front desk gave us a room on 3rd floor under the stairs to 4th floor. Each person that walked down stairs sounded like stomping elephants. The room was very small and when we arrived there wasn’t a single towel. We have complained to our tour group because we requested 4-5 star hotels and this place was a 2 star hotel. 2 star because food was edible.
