Review on ella city reach hostel

Great place to chill with other travellers! It just a 2 mins walk to the town and with a lot of shops and restaurants along the road. Walk up at 4.30am to see the sunrise in little adam's peak with just 45 mins hike from the hostels. Highly recommended!

Lack of Professionalism in the Business.

Before I reached the destination, I tried to connect with them many times, but they didn't pick up the phone. When I arrived, I didn't see anyone in the reception, and I called again and again, and no one showed. It was a kind of hectic day, and I was standing long to check into my booked room. After that, I inform the resort beside them, and they internally contact the owner. The man in charge came and instantly cleaned the room in 10 minutes, which was not enough. I booked a budget double room, not a hostel.
There was no soap, no water, and the room was filled with insects. The only reason I am giving it two stars is for its cheap price. Not recommended!

Woke up to mice crawling on my feet and every morning a mouse poop next to my head

Very lovely place overall. We were lucky to have the shared dorm for ourselves, so it basically felt like a private room which was lovely. Location is really nice and the view is alright (not as good as the pictures). Fridge in the kitchen froze the food (not fully, so definitely wasn’t because it was a freezer), Wi-Fi worked badly. Staff was friendly, but they wanted us to write reviews for places we hadn’t even stayed at. They definitely have a problem with mice/rats (I can see a review from a year ago with the same problem, and when we told them about the mice they looked like they didn’t know how to react because they already knew). Every day I would wake up to a poop next to my pillow, and even one night I woke up because I could feel them crawl on my feet.

Had to leave

We arrived and there were rats scurrying in the ceiling, we could hear them and see them through the gaps in the ceiling
Only noticed after we had a quick shower which was the worst shower I’ve had in Sri Lanka and that saying something
Had to leave asap to get wifi and book another hostel
Friendly staff and cheap but could not stay there

Convenient, budget place in the city centre.

My wife and I stayed two nights in the place and it was a sudden trip to Ella, in a long weekend (Saturday-Monday). Due to holidays Ella, was packed with visitors and I managed to book a room in this hotel.
We left Colombo on Saturday, around 2.30 pm, and via Southern expressway (Colombo- Mattala) we could reach Ella by 6.30 pm; comparing to other routes I would say very convenient. We checked in by 6.30 pm and we had to park our Jeep near to the hotel (visible distance). Staff was super friendly they even help us to carry our baggage.
Room was small, clean with an attached bathroom. Bathroom was clean and tidy but the hot water shower didn't operate well and had difficulties to get some hot water. As we all know with the cold weather in Ella, hot water shower is a must. Bed is super comfortable and room has only one plug point, where the fan was plugged in, but I could managed the situation with my travellers multi plug so its fine.
Place has a common kitchen where everyone can cook whatever they want, and we also used that facility to make our breakfast and I must say its super convenient.
Apart from that we had nice time there and we could hike Ella rock, Little Adam's peak and we even visited Nine arched bridge in Ella within one day, and we travelled back to Colombo the next day (Monday) via the same route.
