A great place to unwind

We really enjoyed our stay at Salt Bay. The owner Thusitha is a great cook and good company and went out of his way to prepare Sri Lankan and Western food for us. The cabins are attractive and we liked the outdoor sitting space and large garden. Nice, fairly empty beach nearby.

Owner was drunk

I read all those good reviews but I do have comments about them. We booked via booking.com. When we got there, the owner said there was no room (after us, there were other people who experienced the same thing). The owner helped us find another location, but still...
We had dinner there in the evening and it was good! But the owner said that he had already had a party for 3 days and in our opinion he was still not sober. He was even quite pushy towards my sister and my wife. Too bad... He better stop drinking Lion Stout...

Homely

Two kitesurfers from UK really enjoyed our stay here with Thusitha and his team who did everything to make us feel comfortable and "at home". The cottage was a good size, clean with an outdoor bathroom. The breakfast was very good. Thusitha is an outstanding cook and brewed us up a lovely variety of vegetable dishes in the evening. Very tasty. We enjoyed hanging out at the resort, wifi was good and there was a nice vibe especially with the family of dogs who were great company. It was
easy to enjoy the company of fellow
guests and diners coming to the resort for
the food and hospitality based on
Thusitha's respected reputation in the
village. We wish you all the best with your new resort and hope to return sometime in the future.

Good food

We just stopped by for a dinner and were nicely suprised by the quality of food - tasty and made from fresh lokal ingredients. The owner seems to be really enjoying to give a good service to his guests. We were highly satisfied and it made our evening.

Laidback beach vibe with a wonderful host

Comfortable,clean,aesthetic cabanas with a laidback sit out to take in the sea breeze amidst coconut palms makes this place the perfect hangout at Kalpitiya. Semi-outdoor bathrooms are clean.
The gracious host works hard at keeping the place in top shape and cooks delicious meals -especially local Sri Lankan dishes. He even went out of the way to prepare a herbal drink to tame a particularly sore throat.
The friendly dogs and visiting donkey add to the positive energy.
The beach is a stroll away.
All in all,a quiet place to relax and unwind.
