Awesome view of Mahaweli River
The water pressure in bathrooms were great too. The balcony was our favourite, windy and chilly. Great place to just have your tea and relax.
We were regretting a little since we only stayed there 1 night. The host Mr Sirinaga was really good to us. He kept the house clean. The furniture was locally made and the house was tastefully decorated. Highly recommended to stay here.

Complaint Regarding Unacceptable Experience During Perahera Season Stay
Two of us girls stayed for 2 nights during the Perahera season. We chose this place based on a polite phone conversation, even cancelling another reservation. However, upon arrival, we were greeted by an unpleasant couple, with the woman being particularly arrogant.
We checked in around 9 pm and were immediately asked for the remaining payment before even settling in. The room had only one towel, and there was no hot water. When we raised the concern again, the lady told us that lukewarm water was their hot water, which came after keeping the showerhead open for about 15 minutes. However it never worked so we had to take cold showers during the entire stay.
We were promised free tea/coffee upon request for free of charge. But on the first day, we only received basic supplies without milk. The following morning, when we requested tea again, the lady rudely informed us that it was only complimentary for the first day. She even complained about the cost, despite the rate we paid.
We were also assured a late checkout until noon but were abruptly forced to leave by 10 am due to another booking, making us extremely uncomfortable.
To top it off, the property is in a remote location with no proper road access, making it completely unsafe. Due to heavy raining it was impossible to reach by car. I’ve attached photos of the road and other issues we faced during our stay.
If they can't provide the promised facilities, they shouldn't lie to customers about offering a different standard. This is not a holiday inn—it’s just a remote house with an average view and an unpleasant couple. NOT AT ALL RECOMMENDED.

Winter Break
Rock Edge is located on the side of a hill overlooking Mahaweli River. It has a splendid view of the river below and mountains around. There is an open balcony to sit and enjoy the view. It has four large rooms with ensuite, AC/ and own balcony except one room. It is very clean and totally private and if there are no other guests you will have the full use of the common areas, which are spacious. Even with guests present, you will have your privacy.
It is in close proximity to public transport and a “tuk tuk” is only a phone call away. There are tea/coffee making facilities and hosts will provide you with any meals if you require. However, I suggest that you go with some basic food items so that you are prepared.
