Gem in Yatiyanthota - Mountain Views, Plunge Pools and Pure Relaxation
We took a short getaway from Colombo to Leaf Olu Ella, and it was so worth the 2-3 hour drive. The setting is just amazing, between the mountains and surrounded by greenery. We were even lucky enough to wake up to beautiful sceneries in nature, also we had the privilege of witnessing the special sunrise over the mountain by the pool area. The views from the pool are amazing, and the whole place just has a super calm and relaxing vibe and perfect relaxation.
A huge highlight was their private viewpoint. You head up to a little hut at the very top - it's windy, but the 360 degree views are absolutely breathtaking and unreal. Best of all, you can drive your car right to the top, which was a great advantage for us as a family. It’s a really special spot, so definitely don't skip it. Kids enjoyed looking out through the open sun roof while travelling to view point.
We stayed in one of their new chalets, and it was perfect for our group of two families. It had a room on the ground floor and another upstairs, and we had our own little plunge pool at ground floor. That pool adjoining the common sitting area (check picures), was our favorite place to just relax. Being surrounded by all that green makes everything feel so refreshing and peaceful.
The meals were pretty good - everything was tasty and the buffet was with decent sperad. My only small gripe is that the food service could be a little slow during all meals, which can be tough when you’ve got hungry kids. That said, the staff was attentive and trying make things expedite, also checking in to see if we needed anything, also explained what more to explore around.
All in all, Leaf Olu Ella is a gorgeous property with stunning views and great chalets and main villa. It's the perfect place to unwind and relax for families, large groups or couples. If they could just speed up the kitchen a little, it would be the absolute perfect family escape.

Great experience
Wonderful place with a beautiful environment and a neatly maintained garden. The staff provided great service and made us feel very comfortable.

I traveled all the way from Canada for a vacation in Sri Lanka and chose this hotel as my first stay. I had a confirmed booking for a DOUBLE Main Villa (ID: 2006234556) for May 1st to May 3rd.
After a long 3-hour journey to reach the property, I was shocked to be told by the staff that they were fully booked and had no record of my name in their system. Despite showing them my clear confirmation and booking evidence (see attached screenshot), the management was dismissive and unhelpful. They made no effort to resolve the issue or provide an alternative.
This is an unacceptable way to treat international travelers. It was a complete waste of time and energy, leaving us stranded without a room. I highly recommend avoiding this place—they are clearly overbooking and do not care about their customers.

A peaceful villa to experience nature
A very peaceful villa to stay in to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature and wildlife. There's hammocks at the edge of the villa available and I would recommend this area to read a nice book in. The staff are very lovely and helpful with any requests. The rooms were prepared excellently. The infinity pools were well maintained and it was an amazing experience to swim there with mountains in the background. The food served was exceptionally delicious with a wide variety of Sri Lankan curries and dishes being served. There is a waterfall nearby as well to experience a bath from pure, clean water. A short walk from the villa is a cinnamon factory and it was an amazing experience to learn the process of how cinnamon is being harvested from the tree to form cinnamon scrolls. Overall, I would highly recommend this villa to stay in to relax and enjoy nature.

Relaxing holiday with amazing views
We stayed at Leaf Olu Ella for 2 night in a mountain view room. We loved everything about it.. breathtaking views, comfortable clean room, great pool, tasty food and staff who couldn't be more helpful! If you love nature and a quiet relaxing stay, this will be a great place (but make sure there are no day trippers if you'd like a quiet stay).
