Not for all
I was a little scared by the reviews but after booking 2 nights we extended for a week.
I liked it a lot because it is a simple and not crowded place. Well supervised.
The bungalow (gang?) right on the sea, small, very easy, certainly lacked maintenance but it is a campsite which suits us.
Unfortunately there was often no water but the shared bathrooms at the campsite were always available and there was water there.
Every day I saw the beach and the common areas cleaned (where users and people on the beach left everything).
The common bathrooms were also always clean.
Every day they changed the sheets and the girls cleaned the room and sprayed mosquito spray.
Well, mosquitoes are a big problem that prevented us from being outdoors in the evening.
I liked the constant music from the establishment next to me, but I understand that it may bother some.
I didn't see the mice that some people are talking about and I had biscuits in the room (I hadn't read the reviews about it).
On the other hand, every now and then a nice group of monkeys would arrive
We often dined in the hotel and I must say that everything was excellent.
I found the staff adorable, starting with Gloria, the girl at the reception.
The varied audience, beers, etc etc I won't go into details....but no one was bothering me, on the contrary, I met some nice people. I wasn't interested and no one bothered.
The beautiful sea, with accentuated tides. Shoes are necessary because there are many pieces of bottles in the water....
In the morning it was great, in the afternoon the beach was full.
The surroundings are a bit....unsafe in the evening.
But even during the day "beautiful" characters circulate.
I definitely don't recommend this place to single women.
I would go back immediately because I found it a relaxing place but I don't think it's for everyone. It takes a bit of adaptability and certainly a bit of attention to the surroundings

Very dirty
Dirty dirty dirty. As soon as we arrived (around 11.30pm) despite having written several times they didn't have a clear idea of the two rooms we had booked so they gave us a room with a bathroom and that was ok but instead of the treehouse, which was the other room, they gave us a beach band. They changed our room on the day but the beach area was indecent, smelly, full of mosquitoes and damp, including mattresses, sheets and pillows. The room with the 110tsh bathroom was a little better, however the bathroom was very dirty, the shower was full of limescale and the walls were peeling. 0 space to place objects, on the veranda a chair with holes in the padding (perhaps from a mouse?), very dirty floor and residues from other guests (a bottle cap on the floor). We escaped after 2 nights

Lively slice of paradise
We stayed here for three nights over Christmas and it was a very charming and lively place. Right on the beach, there's a great bar/restaurant/pool area with a pool table and there were DJs (one played absolutely banging 90s/00s hip hop set) and live music on Christmas Eve. The resort next door had music pumping pretty consistently throughout the afternoon and night, so would recommend ear plugs. If you're looking for a quiet hidden resort, this probably isn't the spot for you, but we met lots of lovely people and had a really good time. They also have a spa on site and had a cracking massage on Christmas eve too.
The food in the restaurant was one of the few things that let this place down, it's not particularly tasty or good value, I would eat elsewhere if I came back here. Whilst the room appeared clean, on the last morning I woke up with lots of bites on my arms. My partner was fine so we're still not sure what it was, could have been ants but could have been something more sinister so would definitely check the bed and bedding upon arrival.

Every shilling worth
Mikadi Beach Camp & Backpackers has a lot to offer, for it’s very affordable and simple setup it is every shilling worth.
Very friendly staff, great location, nice food.
But, you should bring your own mosquito net to use in addition to the one provided.
In addition you shouldn’t bring any foodstuff no matter how concealed - the rats/mice will find it and eat it.
4/5 will definitely come back, great for young travelers!

Outstanding experience
Let me start of by saying this is a Hostel. The rates are according to hostel standard. If you expect a five star hotel you have to wake up and not search for rates in the hostel prize range. That being said, this place is amazing! I love it here. I booked two nights, but extended my stay to eight nights in a lodge with private bathroom. Really charming cabin without AC, but a fan did a nice job cooling me during the nights. The property is very safe with excellent security, guarded entrance with port and a surrounding fence. The reception area is and really feels like a paradise island relax lounge. The food and service is
fabulous and brought to you by a dedicated, polite and professional staff. In this place you will feel welcome from the moment you arrive until you leave with tears in your eyes. It is absolutely heartwarming. It’s like you become a family member and is treated in that way. I give my highest possible recommendation and will for sure com back again. Thank you, all the wonderful staff at Mikadi Beach Camp! You are all great ambassadors for Tanzanias warm and friendly culture.
