Fantastic accommodation ticked all the boxes

Can't believe that I found this accommodation on my first visit to Barcelona. The bedroom lead out to a large terrace area with views over the city. Spotlessly clean & modern with a full equipped kitchen. Mariana met us at the building and she was fantastic showing us around & advising us on everything from places to go, metro & restaurants. It is very easy to get to from the El Prat Airport and you are located between two metro stations Girona & Tetuan and you can walk to top locations as well. This will suit families , couples or professionals on business in Barcelona.

Nightmare!

We, a family of two adults and three children arrived in Barcelona late at night by train, at 11.30 pm. We had sent a message to the host about how to get the key earlier in the day without receiving any response. During the train ride, we called the host several times without anyone picking up the phone. Just as we got off the train, a message came in from booking.com that the host had canceled our stay. And everyone who has been to Barcelona in July can imagine how difficult it was to find a new hotel at 01:00 at night. After a lot of phone calls we found a hotel room. The hotel we had to take in the end cost twice as much as we had paid for the apartment, and the next day was destroyed, as we were completely exhausted after we found the bed at 02.00. Would never recommend this host to anyone.

Good location but not the best sleep

The apartment that we had ( 2 bedroom) was good for the price we paid. The only negativ thing was that it was a bit cold inside ( we never really understood how to work the heating so maybe this was our fault ) and that the beds were not comfy, think it could be time to change the mattresses.

Good place to stay

Firstly if you want your own bathroom make sure you book the room with the en suit or book a hotel.
The good things about this place are. ...
1. It's a really good location to get round Barcelona. Good transport links and a lot of the places to visit are within walking distance.
2. We were met by the manager who gave us some really good tips about where to go what to do etc. We would suggest getting the 10 trips for 10 euros travel card over any of the travel cards available. But we did do a lot of walking.
3. The room and communal areas are nice and are kept clean and tidy. Having access to a kitchen and not having to rely solely on eating out keeps costs down.
5. Free WiFi. It's a bit temperamental at times but is very useful. The city WiFi didn't work for me.
4. It's cheap!
There isn't much to complain about. For the first couple of days it was a bit cold in the room and the heating didn't come on but someone must have flicked a switch because it has been on since.
The cleaners are in every day. We were told that our bedding and towels would be changed every few days. We leave tomorrow and nothing has been changed but that isn't a big deal. The cleaners are quite noisy if you are in during the day but most people will be out doing things.
All round a good base for visiting Barcelona provided you are willing to share a kitchen and bathroom with others!

Cute & comfortable hostel

We stayed at Apt Gran Via for 2 nights. We were in flat 3 room 2, with shutters that open to busy Gran Via below providing lots of sunlight, breeze and city views. With a convenient location and all the amenities you need Gran via is a good choice for a short stay to explore Barcelona. The rooms, shared bathrooms and common ares are clean and comfortable.
We are happy with our stay.
Apt Gran Via has no signs and was difficult to find from the street, call ahead to have them meet you on the street upon arrival.
