Very disappointing stay at the ibis Irun hotel – not to be missed for long stays
As soon as I arrived, several problems arose. The sheets were not changed for several days, which is a minimum expected. The cleaning was very irregular: hair, dirt on the floor, labels left in the room, unemptied garbage cans... It clearly feels like sloppy work.
Sanitation is also a problem: there is no wiper in the toilet, which is incomprehensible in a hotel. As a result, even when flushing, some traces remain, and cleaning does not always seem to be done properly behind. It is neither comfortable nor respectful for the customer.
The general comfort is not there, especially because of significant nuisances. For the first eight days, I was on the first floor, right next to the cleaning room (trolleys, vacuum cleaners, linen...). Every morning, the staff spoke very loudly in the hallways, without worrying about customers. In addition, there were constant comings and goings, as well as doors left open to the outside, which caused cigarette smells to come up in the room, despite the hotel’s non-smoking status.
After requesting a change of room, I was moved to the ground floor for the last few nights, but the situation was no better. The room had a strong unpleasant smell (moisture / wet dog type), so much so that I had to use my own products to reduce the smell. In addition, the shower system was in poor condition.
In addition, there are permanent odour nuisances: cooking odours (frying, grilling) in the evening and breakfast odours in the morning, which go up in the corridors and into the rooms, particularly because some doors remain constantly open. This makes the environment quickly uncomfortable.
Regarding the staff, the reception was very mixed. Some people were pleasant, but overall the attitude was rather cold, sometimes giving the impression of disturbing. This is not an incentive to bring problems back to the ground.
I reported these malfunctions to customer service with supporting photos. The only response received was a message of apology from the director, without any commercial gesture, despite the length of the stay and the problems encountered. This is regrettable and gives a feeling of lack of consideration.
In summary:
* acceptable for 1 or 2 nights possibly
* not recommended for a long stay
* significant noise and odour nuisance
* lack of rigour about cleanliness and maintenance
* insufficient customer follow-up after complaint
Based on my experience and similar reviews left by other guests, I recommend taking extra care when booking this property.
For my part, I will now focus on other hosting solutions.

Good stay but very strong artificial fragrance in the room, impossible to flush
One regret about my last stay, there was a strong artificial, chemical perfume in the room, which I was unable to expel even by opening the window wide — probably from the central ventilation. I had not seen such a "perfume" during my previous stays, this evolution is not in the right direction. We know that the chemicals in these perfumes tend to be toxic to health, could the hotel not spare its guests?

Good hotel, but unpleasant artificial fragrance in the room
