Palacio Conde Toreno

The hotel is located on the outskirts of Malleza, a small picturesque village of Asturias in northern Spain. The property is surrounded by hills and woodland. The Castillo de Salas is 7.7 km from the hotel and guests can drive to the Asturian coast in around 30 minutes. The hotel is housed in an elegant 17th-century palace that has been recently restored and modernised. It has a large garden with a chapel, and charming, country-style rooms. Some of the services and facilities available at the hotel include a children's playground, a café-bar, a conference room and there is a car park for those arriving by car. The hotel provides convenient accommodation.

Disappointing

I stayed for a wedding, and the word that best describes it is neglect. For the rooms, you have to leave your details on a sheet of paper that is at the entrance of the main house; they don't have anyone for reception. The room doesn't even have a key, the floorboards are uneven and creaking terribly, but the worst part is that there were spiders in the closet and around the bed. The bathtub was all chipped; we couldn't use it. A disaster. The wedding catering followed the same line of disaster, very scarce and disappointing in terms of quality. For breakfast the next day, there were mass-produced pastries on the table and store-brand yogurts from the supermarket, and they served you a small glass of juice and coffee individually; you could ask for more if you wanted, but you had to make the poor woman come from the kitchen.

Very Disappointing Experience

I attended a wedding at the palace this spring and stayed overnight. Before the ceremony began, the best man had to clean the cobwebs from the place where the union was going to take place with a broom. At the meal they didn't offer us seconds and the portions left a lot to be desired... They were tiny.
At the time of the toast they filled your glass with two fingers and if you asked for more cava they told you it had run out and that only sparkling cider was left... Unbelievable. I found out afterwards that there were liqueurs because they didn't offer them at my table.
You could taste the dessert in one go because there wasn't enough for more...
And the dinner... was there dinner?? I think so, that's what they said, but I didn't even see it.
And the hotel... ugh this is a complete disaster, the room had no key or hair dryer... and when we pulled the curtain the rod fell on our heads, not to mention the mattress which was extremely uncomfortable.
Anyway, it's a shame that the best memory for the life of the newlyweds is clouded by all this.

Quite improvable.

We went to eat, invited to a wedding.
The appetizers that were served were scarce.
The food arrives cold at the table; they come by to ask if you want to order more, and by the time you go to request more, they have already left.

Disappointment

The place could be beautiful but it looks old and abandoned. Open 24h but with no one to welcome you. If you go at night you must go through 100m of garden without any light. In the bathroom of the room no hairdryer, no gel or shampoo in the shower or a towel to put smooth feet when leaving the shower.. The simple breakfast: milk and coffee in a thermos, juice, toast with butter and jam and muffins from the super.
The best thing: the silence, not a noise all night. Pets allowed

Wedding/boda

We had our wedding in this beautiful place.
It is such a shame it is run by incompetent and bad people.
A week before our wedding we got told we couldn’t have fireworks despite us asking IN WRITING if we could have them 8 months before and them saying yes!
Also they wanted to charge us 300 euros more for our stay just because the woman we negotiated the price with didn’t work there anymore so they couldn’t honour the price she stated even though we had a contract with that price?! (In the end they did but on THE DAY OF THE WEDDING they where discussing this with me which is unacceptable)
Also we hired the venue EXCLUSIVELEY for 3 days and the owners where there too having their summer family party which was also unacceptable.
So many bad things to say but don’t have the time to write it all - what a shame as it’s such a beautiful place.
BEWARE of them trying to charge you more a week before your wedding ( apparently it costs money to use their fairy lights that are already on outside ...it costs €150 to turn on)
Oh and one more thing BEWARE of them asking you to pay in cash 3 days before your event. We refused to pay in cash but that’s how this venue works apparently they just don’t tell you until the last minute...
