I chose this place for its proximity to the bus station as I had an early flight to catch the following morning, and it couldn't have been closer - all I had to do was cross the road! Also, I was wishing I was staying here longer than one night, as it was the nicest place I stayed in on my trip (probably the most expensive too, but we won't dwell on that ;)) My room was spacious and clean and I loved the decor and colours. The shower was nice and hot (once I'd worked out how to use it) and the bed was large and comfy. My only complaint was that I wasn't really warm enough under the thin sheet provided and had to put the velvet throw (that I think was just meant to be decorative) over me too. There's a bit of traffic noise, but nothing major.

A LOVELY LITTLE HOTEL - WITH ONE OR TWO RESERVATIONS

A really nice hotel in a great central location, conveniently near to the main shopping centre, bars, restaurants, the cathedral, the railway station and the ferry terminal. Very clean room with a big comfortable bed. The receptionists were particularly helpful and friendly, and spoke very good English. On the minus side, the breakfast could have been better - as non-meat eaters there was not a lot of choice, and the cooked items were only lukewarm - although admittedly we came down towards the end, which we like to do when on holiday. The (English) waiter in the breakfast room had a slightly strange manner, zooming around at speed, and slamming the crockery, etc, down in the kitchen. The other guests noticed this. I would add that he seemed to be angry with us on the second day for some reason, brusquely asking for our room number and being off hand. Not sure why - could be as we moved the cutlery from a table which was next to the kitchen entrance to one further away in the corner, which was quieter. Shouldn't have been an issue as the tables were not set, other than the cutlery, as it was all self service so you brought your own crockery, etc to the table. Maybe he was just having a bad day. We were not looking forward to coming down for breakfast on the third morning because of his attitude, but thankfully there was a waitress on duty, and she was much friendlier. (Although she was sweeping around the tables when people were still eating, which is a no no. I understand that there will be some clearing up to be done towards the end of breakfast time, but this should be tables only - not the floor!). One or two other minor things - there was no milk in the room for the tea and coffee - we were told that we needed to buy from the supermarket. Not good form for any hotel, never mind a classy one like the Abba Santander. The fridge was not cold enough, and no way of turning it up, so we had warm(ish) beer and wine! Oh, and the shower room did not have any hooks on which to hang things, which was surprising. I know I'm being slightly picky, but little things make all the difference. The negatives would not stop us staying at the hotel again should we visit Santander in the future.

Good location but air-conditioning did not work well so I would not recommend for a summer stay.

Very nice

My room had doors opening on to a little balcony overlooking the street. It was lovely. The room was clean and nicely presented. It’s very close to the ferry port and there’s lots going on as soon as you step outside the hotel. I really liked it.

Great location next to bus station, good breakfast friendly staff, unfortunately no international TV stations available in bedroom which was mentioned during stay. Shops and restaurants with one good Italian nearby. Lovely promenade area with golden sandy beaches further along within reach.
