You will not be disappointed. Great hotel and staff. Punches WAY above its weight.

I have stayed here a few times now. Once, twenty years ago, when it was called the Ferrox, I think. Absolutely still fantastic. Firstly, a really interesting building in its own way. Built in a Moorish property design. The rooms have great views. Housekeeping is absolutely extraordinary. Constant public areas are constantly being serviced. Nothing shows any wear and tear. Maintenance really quick if needed. Spotless (yes, really). Facilities are fantastic. The main pool is amazing. The restaurant is lovely. Constant "live" cooking and refreshments by the kitchen staff of the buffet. The food was really varied. I love the fact that about half a dozen main, cooked food "meats" were available to order at the buffet. Not dozens of warm Bain Marie's of questionable quality. The huge selection of cold starters and sweets was just fabulous. Breakfast was equally a great experience. I loved the wonderful lady, who cooked omelettes to order. A highlight. Lovely soul. Met, greeted, and shown to a table by welcoming staff was very pleasant. I will be back next year if possible. The Beach is a one-minute walk away through a key card gate. Absolutely lovely beach on its own. So many activities to join in if you want as well. Absolutely recommend. The hotel punches way above its VFM weight. THANK YOU.

The best hotel for family entertainment.

The rooms are a great size and spotlessly clean.
Hotel check in welcoming and quick.
Buffet restaurant with average food.
Snack bar fairly poor.
Ice cream and coffee bar great.
All staff friendly and helpful.
The best entertainment team and programme. This includes kids club, mini disco, pool parties day and night, foam party, bands, shows. The list is endless and the team enthusiasm and effort with the children is the highlight of this hotel.

Wonderful

We had a wonderful time again at your hotel on our 10th visit. The facilities are great and the staff very welcoming. The hotel is spotless and every effort is made to keep it this way. Many thanks to Juan, Amor, Arbilla, Miguel, Manuel, Pablo, Fernando, Kristina, Judith, Alex, Martha, Carla and the management team and everyone else who made our family holiday special. We shall return.

Our fourth visit, and already excited for our fifth

We’ve just returned from our fourth visit to Iberostar Waves Malaga Playa and I’m so delighted to say that the standard remains as high as ever. It’s so rare to find a consistently excellent gem of a hotel - if you are thinking of booking, please don’t hesitate. The staff are exceptional - every single person worked so hard, was really friendly and went above and beyond. Food is exemplary - we stayed on an all inclusive basis and the freshness, choice and quality never dipped. Again, the chefs and kitchen staff were phenomenal. The whole hotel is like a well oiled machine - despite being very busy, everything ran like clockwork with no fuss or lack of standards being maintained. We stayed in an apartment which was perfect - and loved the refurbished bathroom and wristbands as keys, nice touch! Entertainment staff made my daughter and niece feel like princesses. As always, a special mention to our wonderful friend Fernando - we’ll see you next year!

Never again..

I am very disappointed, and this is only the first day of our stay.
Considering the price we paid, I expected a much better experience. Unfortunately, many basic services come at an additional cost. Parking is extra, beach sunbeds are extra, there is a deposit for pool towels, and even borrowing an iron requires a deposit
The beach facilities do not justify the extra cost. The sunbeds we were offered were old and not clean, and there is no beach bar service directly on the beach. Charging extra for facilities in this condition is difficult to understand.
The food quality and overall cleanliness have also been below our expectations. We booked Half Board and if you want to switch dinner to lunch, you must pay an additional €8 per person per day because drinks are included at lunch.
The splash park policy for young children is also concerning. Parents are not allowed to accompany their children up the stairs to the slides, even for very young children. Our son is only 2 years old, and I asked whether the lifeguard would assume responsibility for him if parents are not allowed to help. I did not receive a clear answer, which left me feeling uncomfortable with the policy.
I also paid extra to have the minibar included. However, when I asked at reception on the second day, I was informed that the minibar would only be stocked then and that nothing was provided on the first day, despite paying for this service from the beginning of our stay.
After only one day, the experience has been far below the standard I expected from Iberostar. I sincerely hope the rest of our stay improves, but my first impression has been very disappointing.

We are sorry that your first impression has not met your expectations. As your feedback was received while you are still in the hotel, our Guest Service team and the hotel management have already contacted you personally to review the points raised and provide the corresponding clarifications.
Regarding the splash park, the access rules are established for safety reasons and include the applicable height restrictions. Concerning the beach sunbeds, these facilities are operated by an external provider and are therefore outside the hotel’s management. Likewise, drinks are not included in the Half Board plan, in accordance with the conditions of this board basis.
Although we understand that you may not agree with all the explanations provided, please be assured that our team remains available throughout the rest of your stay should you wish to discuss any matter further or require additional assistance.
