Air BnB liveaboard

Stayed here a couple times on separate visits always a pleasure to stay at this unique accommodation. Roger and Benz the owners are super helpful and accomodating, we lost one of our bags in transit and didn’t have the time to stay in Bangkok to wait for the delivery but Roger was more than happy to help us by looking after the bag til we returned a week later to continue our holiday. Girlfriend was over the moon at its retrieval.

Upfront, this is not 5 star hotel quality accomodation, it is closer to hostel accomodations, being a tied up dive boat. The cabin are big enough for a full size bed, and suitable for two people to do whatever you want to do in a bed. The river quiets down at night and there is no problem at all with sleeping, either for noise or for water movement.
The great thing about this accomodation is location. It makes all the sites along the river easily accessible by one form or another of water transport, and particularly via the hop-on hop-off ferry. And on a lazy day, you can just sit on the deck with a beer and watch the active river traffic go by.
There are multiple places to eat both at the pier the boat is located at and immediately across the river.
The owner lives aboard and he is friendly and helpful with any issues that might arise or with helpful directions to nearby sites.

One of a kind in Bangkok

This is definitely a special lodging. A safari boat moored on the banks of Chao Phraya river in the middle of Bangkok. The Kings Palace an Wat Pho are in walking distance. Nearby are Thai and international restaurants and coffee shops and a 7eleven for all the basic needs. I was in a room with A/C and a private bathroom with a comfortable queen size bed. This is a boat so don't expect a huge room size. The real catch is the sitting area and the hammocks where you can observe the life on the river from. The host, Roger, is very welcoming and takes exellent care of his customers.

Chilling in Bangkok

What a fabulous couple of days. That chair, watching the long tail boats, barges, pootle their way up and down the river. Being part of Bangkok yet adrift. Famous Amulet and food market right next door as well as “smarter” restaurants and Western fare 100m away. Temples and Palaces are close as is the infamous Khao San Road and China Town. (A must see at night).
The main problem in getting to see this was Rogers Houseboat. It was too damn comfortable. Roger is an interesting and knowledgeable character with a real zest for life. So whether it is to visit all the highlights that Bangkok has to offer or to do what I did and just chill. The options are yours.
