A wonderful stay

Very well located in the center, the best place you can have, a beautiful view on Christmas decoration and also on the Gävlebocken tradition (that we could not see because we came to visit the city a week before December unfortunately...)
Free breakfast and well prepared, and also free hot drink.
Rooms are very clean, which is pleasant.
And the very good point is the personal who are very welcoming and warming peoples.
Thank for our stay, and see you maybe soon !

Delightful stay

My husband and I stayed at the Pensionat Slottatorget for the Gavle goat illumination. A visitor could not ask for a better location! Easy walk (with four suitcases) from the train station. Within walking distance of the old town and shopping. The rooms were clean- not elaborate but perfect for our three day stay. Breakfast was satisfying. We enjoyed a nightly sip of Glogg and gingerbread cookies. The owners were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The building is secure..a bit confusing when you arrive-as you need to have the code to enter the building--but once in no problems at all. For dinner I would recommend Sarah's ( try their elk/moose stew--yummy or terassen pub Kok was another good find. Both within easy walking distance from the hotel. Unfortunately the goat was burned this year-the evening of the lighting...our window view allowed us to witness the sad crime. I would recommend this B and B to Gavle visitors!

Fairly overprized in relation to what you get

The rooms are fairly worn out. My room faced roof tops and amongst these a ventilation for a restaurant - with the result that leaving the window open made the room smell like Chinese food.
Not soundproof, I heard my neighbours television.
Breakfast basic.
Friendly staff.
however, since I found the lodgings basic I think the price for the room is too high.

Location Perfect

Really can't get much better for location, less than 10 mins walk into the town centre, plenty of restaurants, cafes etc all around, river-side within just hundred metres or so, old Gamla town on the opposite side of the road, and, of course, looks out directly on the Goat (when it's there!). The owners are very friendly and happy to give advice on where to see, choice places to eat etc, and even made breakfast in advance of the one morning where I had a super early start. Rooms can't be faulted either, light, clean, modern feel and generally well looked after. Highly recommend, and will return!
Note, to enter, requires pass-code both for external door and internal, so you need to ring beforehand to get this, rather than being able to just turn-up and check in...this wasn't really made clear

Nice place to stay overnight

It is very nice place to stay overnight. Very helpful personal. Nice breakfast. Super friendly owner. Location is very good: in walking distance from city center and train station. Many restaurants and big supermarket around.
