Fantastic environment with lots of activities in the immediate environment. Nice room in one of the small cottages. Spacious, good beds/pillows. But
Divine 2-course dinner and under bar breakfast with everything you could want. We'll be back.

Good food, but poor service
I have heard a lot of good things about Högbo Bruk and was really looking forward to our stay. Maybe that’s why the disappointment was extra great when the experience fell far short of our expectations.
Already at check-in, we experienced the reception as cool, disinterested and far from the service one expects from a facility in this price range.
My friend had booked the spa for four people, but the booking apparently could not be found. Instead of helping us calmly and solution-oriented, we had to try to sort out the situation ourselves. We also did not get any clear information about how the spa visit worked or what we as guests needed to know.
We also had two separate dinner reservations at 7 pm and wanted to sit together. Even there I was not met with any willingness to help. I was told that I had to try to solve it myself later, when the evening staff arrived after 3 pm.
What I had expected was something as simple as: “I’ll fix that, I’ll make sure you get to sit together.” It is not about an unreasonable demand, but about basic hosting and the desire to go the extra mile for the guest.
I myself have worked many years in the hospitality industry and know that good service does not always require a lot of effort. Often it is about attitude, responsibility and making the guest feel that someone actually wants to help. That feeling was unfortunately lacking on several occasions during our stay.
In the spa there were a lot of people, which we have full respect for. However, it is the responsibility of the facility to adapt the number of visitors to capacity. When the outdoor pools were full, my friend asked the staff how she would do it and was told: “You just have to do what you do in Stockholm and impose yourself.”
It’s both an unprofessional and downright unpleasant response – and certainly not the tone you’d expect in a spa and hotel complex.
The dinner was very good. The food was of high quality and the service in the restaurant was nice and professional. It shows that there are staff at the facility who really understand what hosting means.
The breakfast was unfortunately a complete logistical chaos. It was extremely crowded, but no one seemed to control the flow, helping guests find seats or checking table or room numbers. The result was congestion, stress and a very messy experience.
If the occupancy is so high that the staff is unable to provide guests with a good treatment or maintain a functioning logistics, the management needs to review staffing, division of work, procedures and service culture. High pressure can explain stress, but it cannot be used as an excuse for lack of hosting.
Högbo Bruk has a beautiful environment, good food and great potential. But a nice plant is not enough. When guests are expected to solve booking problems themselves, coordinate dining areas and “squeeze in” to gain access to the spa they have paid for, then the core is broken.
We had heard a lot of good things about Högbo Bruk and had really wanted to leave with the same positive image. Unfortunately, we didn't.
