We recommend this property in a very good time and a very good reception We recommend this property

We came to eat at this restaurant, it is true that we changed the number of people 2 or 3 times.
But I work in an institute where it is a place to welcome people in difficulty, psychological and the welcome of the chef was wonderful and ate us well, we had the feeling of being privileged in this restaurant, and we had seen the view directly on balloon alone in the restaurant, it was a wonderful experience for the people anyway that I accompany the tour who made me very much like you a very great kindness and recommend you very kind and very if the opportunity arises to work with you it will be with pleasure

Less Than Welcoming Hotel Staff

We were on a week-long holiday booked with Newmarket Holidays based at this hotel, while we visited various locations (Gruyère, Interlaken, Gstaad, Montreux). The holiday, overall, was a wonderful experience due the spectacular scenery and weather. However, the accommodation left a lot to be desired. While the rooms were very clean and regularly serviced , the lack of a lift, made it a great struggle with luggage, especially when four floors high. Breakfast was included which was sufficient. Evening meals were also included, but it was a set menu and one or two offerings were not to the taste of everyone in our group. The biggest disappointment, overall, was the attitude of hotel staff, who were less than welcoming. This was not a place where we think of making a return visit.

Lovely hotel and lovely location

Lovely location. Although there isn't much of a town there are a few restaurants and the location is just on the edge of a beautiful wooden area with stunning walks along the lake. Short walk up quite a steep hill takes you to the town and the train station. The rooms were lovely, nice and clean and good showers. Only down side are the pillows are not very good and there are no tea/coffee facilities in the room. You have to hire a kettle and buy the cups and tea/coffee supplies. There is a co-op across the road but would be nicer if you had this supplied. Lovely garden area with chairs and tables so you can enjoy the grounds. The dinning hall is very warm in the summer and doesn't have air con. Dinners were lovely and the breakfast was good. No dinners available on Sunday and Monday nights but can eat in town. Would stay here again

enjoyable experience

A really enjoyable experience. The previous reviews posted on this website seem to me to be unjustified. The food is excellent quality. It is true there is one set menu but vegetarian menu is an option. I found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. My room was compact as a solo traveller but it did have everything needed. I believe the rooms have been fully renovated. The shower is small but again sufficient and all very clean. It is in a valley with outstanding views all around. I was with Newmarket tours and thoroughly enjoyed the week at this hotel. They have a small bar and lovely outdoor space. The garden furniture does need replacing. The breakfast is continental and very tasty. Always being replenished. the cheese selection as well as the meat is good. The yogurt and fruit selection is good. This hotel is fairly small and has a nice charm. The village does not have a lot going on. There are lots of beautiful walking trails. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel not for luxury but for a simple clean and friendly base for tours

Newmarket Holiday

If you are looking for somewhere lovely to stay, do NOT go to this hotel. The rooms are very basic, no tea making facilities, no fridge, stairs only to the top floors, bit like a youth hostel. Tiny bathroom, small shower, hardly any wardrobe space. I went with a friend and we booked separate double rooms because I am fed up of being put in a small "cupboard", just because I am a solo traveller. Obviously that cost a lot more. The food left a lot to be desired, it was awful . No choices whatsoever, take it or leave it. One evening I asked if I could have ice cream or a yoghurt instead of what was on offer and I was told very firmly NO. One afternoon arriving back late, we asked if we could please have a little milk to make a cup of tea - the man on reception was not best pleased and came back with 2 tiny sachets of cream for coffee. I asked if I could have a little more, I like milky tea, and he said NO he shouldn't even be giving us this and was going to change it to my room!!!!! Surly staff with aggressive manners, I was drinking water one evening and a surly woman rushed over and said I couldn't drink my own alcohol drinks in the bar - I told her it was water from the dining table I had just left!!! She was horrible! I was not the only guest who experienced this attitude. Never again!
