Warmest Welcome - Like Coming Home

Having previously lived in Geneva, when we come back to visit we always stay at the Lake Geneva Hotel to catch up with friends. I just love this hotel, the staff are amazing especially Alex and Oscar in the restaurant and the girls at the Reception. You couldn't ask for a warmer welcome. The rooms overlooking the lake are spectacular, but even if you get a room at the side there is still a good view of the lake. Having the train station within a 2 minute walk couldn't be more convenient. Also getting the free travel pass for the trains, trams and buses from the hotel makes life so much easier. We try and go back to visit at least twice a year and I never want to stay anywhere else. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Not at all a 4 Star Hotel

Nope, this is a Hotel we will NOT choose again. Let's take things from the beginning. Upon our arrival the welcoming at the reception was very friendly and polite. As the room Was not ready yet,we decided to eat something at the restaurant. We ordered ghe Caesar salad as the choice is very poor. Well, at least the salad really was good and Ibrahim was a very polite service. The room was a so called Deluxe Room, which had nothing to do with deluxe. No tea, no kettle, only a small plastic bottle of water for two, hair and stains on the bed sheet and it was so cold in the room. And as many others wrote before us, of course they did not do anything. We got a second duvet and a second heater.
Breakfast was very good though and once again a very friendly Ibrahim, whom we liked a lot - He is the good spirit of the restaurant!
The quality of the hotel room is poor and the heating system even poorer. Outside we had 7°C and inside 18,6°C.
I really wonder how they got 4 Stars!! This is no 4 Star Hotel!!
We payed to much for this poor quality.

We are delighted to know that the welcome upon your arrival, the quality of our restaurant, as well as Ibrahim’s professionalism and kindness met your expectations. We will be sure to pass on your compliments to him, as they will mean a great deal to him.
However, we are truly sorry to hear that your Deluxe room did not fully meet your expectations. The condition of the bed linen you mentioned does not reflect our usual standards, and the information was immediately shared with our housekeeping team for appropriate follow-up.
Regarding the temperature, our property is equipped with a Minergie heating system with automatic regulation. We are sorry that the room temperature felt insufficient. Upon request - and as you were able to benefit from - we provide additional heaters as well as extra duvets to enhance our guests’ comfort.
We confirm that our deluxe rooms do not have kettles. However, hot water is available at any time upon request, and our team will be happy to assist you.
We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future, so that we may offer you an experience fully in line with our commitments and regain your trust.

Little Disappointed

So upon checking in, bearing in mind that we had already paid 200 per night and staying for 6 nights at this point. We were then charged a further 500 to cover any damages that could occur to the room during the visit. This was refunded immediately upon checkout but this seems an excessive amount and wiped out a large percentage our funds meant to be used for our holiday there. I understand having the card on file but Charging the card straight away is unusual.
Generally speaking the hotel was clean however a very basic room for the price.
•No lock on the bathroom door.
•No kettle/tea/coffee facilities.
•A/C locked, sure it’s ’self regulated’ but even with the window open the room became uncomfortably hot at night. I dread to think what mid summer would be like. The swarm of mosquitoes didn’t help either.
The staff did give us a new fan as the one in the room was broken however it had very little power.
The receptionists were as helpful as they could be but the hotel itself was just not quite up to its 4* standard.

The pros: waking up to the stunning view of the lake and mountains was breathtaking. Easy access to train line also a plus. The French bakery across the road…delicious!
The cons: the hotel is right under the flight path. It is a 15min train ride into Geneva city, there wasn’t an airport shuttle from airport to hotel, no tea/coffee nor fridge in rooms, no sign of ironing facilities.
It is a clean no fuss hotel with amazing views at an affordable price.
