Amazing staff, wonderful rooms, perfect location!

Our family kicked off our trip to Switzerland in Zurich and stayed at the Hotel Helmhaus. We initially chose it for its modern aesthetic and location and quickly fell in love with it thanks to its friendly staff and wonderful spacious rooms! The location is across the street from the lake, in a beautiful spot with food and shops at its doorstep. The rooms were amazing, bright, modern, spacious, and clean! And the breakfast offered was completely fantastic, with tea served in Japanese tea pots, wonderful buffet and staff that know what you need before you do! We commented how wonderful the staff were, to find out several had been working at the hotel for over 20 years! I think that says it all.

Good but noisy

Great location and friendly staff, however, we had issues with noise of outside street and trams and it was difficult to sleep.

As we are located right in the heart of Zurich’s beautiful Old Town, surrounded by restaurants, shops and lively streets, some outside noise is unfortunately part of the experience of staying in such a central and historic location. Nevertheless, we completely understand how important a good night’s sleep is and regret that this affected your stay.

Enjoyable stay

This hotel is very centrally located (it’s in the central district), the breakfast was very good and the staff was very helpful and friendly. You could tell this was a family run hotel where the staff really cared about making your stay enjoyable. Every recommendation they made was good. The room was nice and clean and the beds were super comfy but our air conditioning was not great. The hotel is in a cute little square with an Italian restaurant 5 feet away that was very good. Can’t go wrong here.

Honest Hotel

Nice hotel. Far from being a boutique hotel, as it is called. A small hotel, that is. Simple rooms, tight bathroom (shower) and low, air conditioning ok for the Swiss summer: could be much better. Micro elevator (3 people). Breakfast ok, enough. Anyway, to the city, until a good cost benefit.

At the same time, we are sorry to learn that some aspects of your stay did not fully meet your expectations. As our hotel is housed in a building with more than 700 years of history, certain architectural features—such as the compact bathrooms and our small elevator—are part of the building's historic character and unfortunately cannot be altered without compromising its heritage.
Regarding the air conditioning, our system is designed according to Swiss standards and generally provides a comfortable indoor climate. However, during your stay, Switzerland experienced an exceptional heatwave, which affected many buildings, including historic ones such as ours.
We are also pleased that you enjoyed our breakfast. We take pride in offering a traditional Swiss breakfast with many fresh products sourced from local and regional suppliers, supporting our community while providing our guests with an authentic taste of the region.
