Earls Anchorage

Earls Anchorage boasts a tranquil, private and central location with convenient access to the main beaches on either side of the Island and close proximity to many scenic walks. Like an oasis, it is in the midst or subtropical gardens and vegetation, and is surrounded by the famous Lord Howe Island Kentia palms with privacy from neighbours and the road. Each self-contained bungalow named after a famous Australian yacht, has been purpose designed by Arcoessence Architects to take advantage of the sunny (northern) aspect. Earls anchorage rocks!

LHI is a beautiful place to visit and the commitment to protecting the bio diversity of the island and its wildlife made it a very special place to experience. Earls Anchorage is a lovely place to stay made more special by Jim our host. His care and attention made our visit memorable. As the only transport is by bike ( both standard and electric supplied) or on foot, getting to the varied eateries in the island is not easy at night. Jim drove us to our restaurant for the evening and arranged for restaurant staff to bring us back afterwards. Nothing was too much trouble and he made sure that our experience there was fantastic. The accomodation is very comfortable with everything that we needed on hand.
Thoroughly recommend it as a good place to stay but there are some hills at this end of the island so a reasonable level of fitness is recommended for walking and riding.

Heavenly stay on LHI!

We loved our bungalow at Earl's Anchorage. The setting is peaceful with lush foliage and beautiful flowering plants throughout the property. Our bungalow - Kathleen - was very spacious and comfortably outfitted. The modern kitchen had all the necessary utensils and a full refrigerator and gas cooktop. The unit also had a washing machine with laundry detergent provided (note there is no dryer but there is a drying rack in the unit and a clothes line outside). They have beach chairs and Cool Cabanas you can borrow and even picnic type backpacks you can use for your beach days. Our hosts were so accommodating and friendly. We arrived on Christmas Eve and after greeting us at the airport they quickly shuttled us around on all our errands (groceries, bike rentals, etc.) to make sure we had everything we needed before the holiday. They also do drop offs for restaurants in the evening (schedule in advance). The restaurant shuttles you back! The property is uphill of the town center - which is about a 15 minute walk or short bike ride away.

Unforgettable nest in the jungle

Stunning self-contained cabins nested in the jungle, very spacious with lots of nice thoughts such as artisanal coffee pods, prepacked bags with picnic ustensils, bathrobe. Walkabale distance to Ned's beach, a nice walk through the jungle brings you to the lagoon. The managers Jim, Rachel, and Alanna were extremely kind and helpful, providing us with transportation wherever we needed and valuable assistance with our luggage for our departure. Would go back anytime and can only warmly recommend!

Good holiday at Earl's

Earls accommodation is very nice. The bungalows are separate and private. The kitchen and laundry were well equipped.
I expected there may be board games etc to use, and possibly there were, but we only found out about the transit lounge on our departure day, a shame.
I would really like to see some basic provisions such as salt, pepper, oil, etc.
Additionally, some beach chairs/shade would have been good so we didn't have to rent them at the beach. I know other accommodation does provide these things.

A lovely stay in a unique place

A resort surrounded by lush greenery, showcasing a unique blend of modernity and elegance, just like its owner, Cathy, who is very kind. When we return from faraway Italy, we will definitely come back here. A place to revisit! The resort is just a stone’s throw from Ned’s Beach and Middle Beach.
