Rude Staff

Booked a room way in advance only to have the hotel call me to cancel the booking stating they have to cancel the booking due to "Technical Issues" When I asked what these "technical" issues were, they said it was due to plumbing and other issues they cannot tell me. I was happy to take another room and it was 3 weeks until my visit which was more than enough time to fix any issues. The weekend I had booked for there was an event on meaning there were literally no other hotels available. I suspect they overbooked and cancelled my booking.

Don't stay at the Acacia Motor Inn, Armidale.

Firstly, the photos accompanying this TripAdvisor listing are NOT the Acacia Motor Inn, 192 Miller St, Armidale NSW, nothing like it. I stayed there 2 nights in room 5,(April 22 and 23 2023), the only positive was there weren't any bed bugs. On the negative side, some ceiling and mirror lights didn't work, some of the power points didn't work, the air conditioning didn't work, there was mould in the bath room around the toilet and in the shower, there was a dead cockroach in the shower recess, the window curtains didn't fully close, there were baby cockroaches on the bench, there were stains on the bed cover, there was a tear in the bottom sheet, the carpet was filthy, and the microwave was disgusting - looked like something had been burnt to death in it. There are no shops or restaurants within an easy walk.

Not what a budget motel should be.

Used to be a $100 motel room was pretty basic, but clean and did the job. I'll say it does keep you off the street, and I am grateful to have a place for the night. However, I'd be a bit worried to shine a lumalight around this motel room. It seems unlikely the cleaners do much more than empty the dirty bin, can't see the state of the bathroom since the bulb has blown, and the fluro light socket over the sink is empty. The furniture is very banged up, the throw pillows on the bed have food and very random (erk...) stains, (as does the carpet) the odd pieces of silverware are smeary and greasy, the kettle was very stained inside and I boiled it three times to make a cuppa. There's a weird patch of torn paint off the bathroom door. The batteries are flat in the TV remote. So look, it does the job, but the owners should really, really lift their game and do some solid cleaning, repalce all the bedspreads, manchester, and carpeting. But the towels seemed clean, the fridge and microwave worked. That was at least something.

OMG !

Firstly, that is not a photo of the Acacia Motor Inn in Armidale NSW. How desperate one must be to place a photo of a different building alongside their name in an attempt to gain customers. It is however, little wonder they have done this as it would come as no surprise if their reputation has already undergone scrutiny from most who have had the misfortune of staying there. We arrived late due to flight delays. In the driveway we were met with a rude and dismissive individual (manager?) who pointed us to a room at the back of the end building where there was no lighting. Once we entered the room we just wanted to turn around and leave. I wish we had. It was getting late and we were tired from travelling and had no idea how far from any other motels we might be as we were not familiar with Armidale. We encountered cockroaches on the bench, we were disgusted at the lack of cleanliness generally, and the pillows among other things would never pass a health inspection ! We slept in our clothes on top of the bed with towels wrapped around the pillows. Need I say more?

Look elsewhere

We'd driven for 12 hrs for a quick over night stay in Armidale before heading on the next morning....
On the plus it was available, cheap and the bed comfy.
But it was FILTHY... To the point we checked both of the double beds to see which was cleanest before sleeping in it.
If we'd checked in before the office shut we probably would have either asked for a refund or for it to be cleaned.
Here's the list...
Dirty dishes
Hair all through shower and bathroom.
Filthy marks on walls.
Beds had hairs on them(hopefully just the cleaner??)
Crumbs everywhere.
Smelt like cigarette smoke.
Bins had stuff in on arrival.
Shower randomly started running in the night.
We survived, and actually slept pretty well as we're tired enough... but won't be back
