Good stay in Cairns
Great hostel.
Rooms with comfortable beds and plenty of space to store your belongings.
New and well-maintained bathrooms.
The common areas are excellent, with a large kitchen and a stunning rooftop balcony right above the lagoon.
Great value for money.

Unfriendly Reception and Poor Customer Service
The worst part of my stay was the reception service. The staff were unfriendly and not helpful at all. It felt like guests were an inconvenience rather than a priority.
In the hospitality industry, basic courtesy and professionalism are expected, but unfortunately that was missing here. The overall experience was disappointing and could have been much better with more attentive and welcoming staff

Satisfactory hostel, wouldn’t stay again
Stayed in this hostel in October 2025, pre booked for me through a travel company.
The location of this hostel is great and considering it is right on the main part you cannot hear anything at night.
The rooms are very small with little storage space. Awful smell throughout the rooms and whole building. Very hot in the building. Air con is on a timer in the rooms but definitely just needs to be left on all day. There is no windows in the rooms. Found bugs in rooms.
Bathrooms are also very hot when people are showering and drying hair. Showers had no hand soap in for 2 days, had to ask staff twice to fill it. Hair was also in the showers on the wall for a while.
The kitchen is clean enough but could definitely be cleaner. Water stations were often empty.
Staff were friendly and checkout was any easy process. Only thing I’d say is you cannot use any of the facilities after checkout which I’ve not experienced in any other hostel.

Thank you for your feedback, Hannah. We're glad to hear you appreciated our location and friendly staff. We're sorry to learn about the issues you encountered with room conditions and cleanliness. I'm sure you meant the bathrooms do not have windows, though have good ventilation. All our rooms have windows, fans and air-conditioning.
The air conditioners are set on a timer throughout the day, as many guests are not in their rooms. The timer is not on in the evenings. They are very easily switched back on.
Your comments are invaluable as we work to improve our services and ensure a better experience for future guests.

Right.
We took a private room with bathroom in this accommodation, mainly for its location and price contained. It is right on the lake of Cairns, in the middle of the shopping street and very close to the pier where the tours to the coral reef depart. Location-wise, excellent.
The right room: not very large but spacious. One catch is that the air conditioning was not controlled: it could only be turned off/on. Also, the bathroom flooded a little when we showered...
They have several common areas with very good looks (we do not use them) and a terrace with very cool sea views.
It is a good option with good price.

not ideal
Worst hostel i’ve stayed in. Walked into the room and it smelt gross, no air flow at all and really humid. Woke up to a pile of bugs running around the room and under the bed, clearly the place isn’t being cleaned often. No social events/social spaces at all. Seems to be a hostel full of asian people who are living there full time, not a backpacker vibe in my opinion. Live music from downstairs blasts through the hostel until very late.
