It was ok but by no means the quality I would have expected. The room was cold and I had to ask for a heater. The first 2 were broken so they gave me their personal heater. That worked well. It was loud there. The piano they played was extra loud, the divide between the rooms was thin so I could hear everything from the room next to me and the people outside my window were loud. The bed rolled around easily so I had to be careful not to bump it much when getting into it. The bed itself was mostly comfortable. It only had a blanket with only a fitted sheet. I had to ask for a second blanket because it was so cold. The staff initially took us to the wrong room which meant they were invading someone else's privacy when they finally got their door open to let us in. The bathrooms were shared but well maintained. There was also a shared kitchen and main room that were ok. It's not really a place I felt comfortable in but it worked out ok for the night.

Disturbance and Safety Concerns During Stay

I don't usually write bad reviews but the attitude of the owner of this homestay was beyond anything I've ever experienced and I don't want anyone to have to go through this.
Very disappointing and unsettling stay. While this may be a budget option, it fails to meet even basic expectations for cleanliness, safety, and professionalism.
After booking, I received a message from the property which included the following:
“132 Nicholson Homestay is a budget accommodation more suitable for clients who just need a place to crash for the night. There will be no 5 star cleanliness and no soundproofing. This is why we are listed as budget homestay/hostel not a hotel. ‘Karens’ will not find it comfortable here.”
This language is extremely derogatory and unprofessional. I was unable to cancel after receiving it due to a zero-refund cancellation policy, which left me stuck with the booking.
The property itself was not clean, and the soundproofing is essentially non-existent. I was repeatedly disturbed by loud door slamming early in the morning and ongoing noise late into the night, including from staff, making it extremely difficult to get any rest.
During my stay, the situation escalated to the point where police had to be called to the property, which made me feel unsafe and extremely uncomfortable — not something any guest should have to experience.
The staff were unapproachable, unfriendly, and unprofessional throughout. Most concerning, however, was how the situation was handled after I checked out — the owner’s response to my complaint was dismissive and completely unacceptable.
I would not recommend staying here.

The location is great and the place is friendly and clean. Of course no 5-star hotel, but pleasant.

Friendly atmosphere, clean rooms and helpful staff. Needless to say - it is no luxury place.
