Such a good feeling.
Some Hotels just feel right. It is tough to pick on any one thing but every single thing just fits together perfectly.
The lobby, the staff, the rooms, the location and the City.

Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff. Dining needs improving.
From arrival to departure, the staff were consistently friendly and personal - a real highlight of the stay.
The property itself is architecturally impressive - beautifully redeveloped with clear respect for the varied history of the site and lovely blend of new and old architecture. Overall, you’d be forgiven for thinking the hotel was new; it’s extremely well maintained (with the exception of the worn chair arms in The Deco Lounge).
The Grand Heritage King had a modern feel with some old‑world charm - consisting of entrance hallway, large bathroom (albeit, surprisingly for a premium room, no bath) and a bright bedroom with lovely standalone wall. The standard of housekeeping was very high. A minor criticism, the curtains would automatically open when reentering the bedroom.
Breakfast staff were friendly, but the experience didn’t quite meet the expectations of a 5 star property. The omelette was light in terms of ingredients and poorly presented (see photo). Tea was self‑service with no pots available. The buffet isn’t huge, but the quality was good and hot items were fresh and well stocked.
The bar was a highlight. The staff were excellent — friendly and attentive — and the bar itself has plenty of character. Very cosy on a cold winter’s evening.
Dining overall was where the stay fell short. Vegetarian options were extremely limited. In the Deco Lounge (only open during the day) the choices were a cheese & mushroom sandwich or a poke bowl, and the hotel’s only other restaurant offered mushroom gnocchi or grilled cabbage. Given the dining detracting from an otherwise excellent stay, on my last day I provided the hotel’s duty manager feedback. Whilst acknowledged, and I was told dining is “under review”, the overall response felt lacklustre. It was pleasant, but the response leaned towards excuses - indicating the hotel’s restaurant is run by another company and/or I could ask if they can do something else that’s not on the menu.
Hopefully the dining will improve, as it’s the only real detractor on an otherwise excellent property.

5* No… Luxury Certainly Not
Room 301 , tiny room next to lifts and housekeepers store cupboard, so noisy, View onto a road, traffic heard until late at night then early morning.
Bathroom door is sliding , rattled everytime was opened and closed, not a peaceful nights sleep the five nights we stayed.
Clean rooms but housekeeping should replace any items used, shower cap, hand soap, sugar, milk etc being a 5* Luxury Hotel a guest shouldn't have to ask..
Breakfast, coffee is gorgeous, cold buffet had an array if choices , hot food should be served hot not warm and dry that has been left underneath a heat lamp. Hobart is beautiful, so much to do and see, will be back to explore more, but certainly not staying the Tasman.
