Hightly recomend
It was business trip for just one night on November 2018.
I chose this hotel because it's located within walking distance of my meeting place.
My room was at 7nd floor. There are two lifts to use. It was big sized room with fully-equipped kitchen (includes: microwave, electric kettle, fridge, varied dishes) and good-completed mini bar. The room was heated with air conditioner.
There was a comfortable bed. I didn't hear any noises, so I slept great.
I ordered room with a breakfast, so in the morning I went to restorant. I was surprised by variety of food and after trying some dishes I was suttisfied with taste. I don't have any reason to feel bad after visiting this place. So, I would hightly recomend this hotel in th e center of Kiev.

Nice and well run budget hotel
I was positively surprised by Hotel Asteri during my 2-night stay in Kiev. It is situated in a quiet road, next to banks and a supermarket, and its entrance and reception are quite narrow. However, the room is very spacious, clean, and has everything you need: big and comfortable beds, chairs, a mini-kitchen with refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom is quite big and clean. Staff extremely helpful and polite. Wifi was excellent. It is a bit away from the main road, and the nearest metro station is about 8 minutes walking. The location is moderate, there is nothing special to do in the area and a bit far from the main Kiev tourist attractions (only Pechersk Lavra is in a walking distance). You need to be a bit careful if you walk at night, but the hotel itself is very safe.
Breakfast was disappointing, however, it is quite average and needs improvement, with more options and better quality in cheese and ham provided.
However, it has excellent value for money (unless you stay for the Champions League Final!) and I definitely recommend to anyone wishing to visit Kiev in a budget.

Short stay but good
Was for one night before I back to home , nice hotel, nice roof for the breakfast, center of KIEV , this hotel only for solo or business trip , near big market and banks, Metro station, helpful staff, UBER can arrive easy there

Comfortable stay, moderate location
We spent two nights in this hotel (couple). The location is moderate, if you care about being close to all hotspots of the city then this might not be the choice for you. However, we think that the quality of the hotel compensates for this. Beds were good, as were all utilities. We enjoyed the breakfast on the roof terrace, which doesn't have the most beautiful view over the city but was comfortably cool and green. Overall we found that the hotel offered good value considering the price.

Nice place to stay/recommended for budget travel.
We stayed four nights at the Asteri and were pleased with the accommodations. They provide a very ample morning breakfast buffet with an impressive observation deck of the city. Our room was enormous with a large bathroom and a mini-kitchen with refrigerator and microwave. The room had an air conditioner which didn't provide all that much cool air, however, it was able to move air around and we were able to sleep with the windows open as the area is relatively quiet. There is a nice stall market a short distance from the hotel with lots of fresh produce providers, fresh meats, liquor, etc. The nearest metro station (Pecherska) is about a 10 minute walk away. The station escalator system is adorned with a Russian star from the USSR chapter of Kiev, which is kind of cool. Staff were helpful in arranging airport transportation and provided us with a box breakfast the day of our departure. The only drawback was that the hotel doesn't provide Kiev tourist maps. We had to get one from another hotel in order to get a perspective on the neighborhood, etc. It'd be nice if they eventually provided one to guests.
