A trip to Chau Doc and staying at Dong xanh hotel

In short, with the price of $US11/n, we could not find any similar hotel with aircon room, clean and decent room size as Dong xanh hotel. The room has a good shower pressure and a big screen TV with a few English speaking channels. It is unbeatable.
Ha, the manager at the front desk speaks good English. He has knowledge of where to go in Chaudoc. We took his recommendation for the “Rung tram Tra su” tour, and we appreciated after the tour done.
Overall, we found satisfactions and will return to this hotel in the future.

No Credit Card accepted!

The point that they don't accept any credit card is the most annoying aspect of the hotel. Also as this was not mentioned prior to us as we checked in.
We were flashed as we were expecting to pay by card. This generated a bit of a uncomfortable situation as we hadn't enough VND left out the situation that we left Vietnam on that day.
We were forced to pay in US dollars which we had as we needed them for the Cambodia visa.
After some discussion we paid 20 US dollars, but only after we could show the price on our online booking record. Otherwise I'm pretty sure they would charge us more.
For that I only rate it as one star hotel.
Communication is extremely difficult, only one person speaks English, the personal on the counter doesn't understand a single word.
Lower standard hotel, okay for one or two nights.
Don't expect too much, for 20 US dollars a night.
Room are larger than expected, but not really clean for this type of standard but room clear need some renovation.
Some bug's are always with you in this type of hotel, so don't overestimate.
Gecko's spend the night with us but this is okay as they eat the bugs in the bed.

Best value accommodation on my 4 country SE Asia trip

The room was very modern with a comfortable bed, large screen smart TV, fridge, aircon and good wifi. Large clean bathroom. I would rate this as similar to 3 to 4 star rooms that I have stayed in elsewhere. For US$13, I thought that it was fantastic value. Front desk staff were very helpful. Not in the centre of town but quieter as a result.

Good base just outside of town

Stayed two nights. Good check in. Man on desk spoke good English and was helpful. Gave us a map of the area and ideas of where to eat. Around 25 min walk to center. They only had 1 bicycle available so we rented a motorbike for 150,000 dong (£5) and went to Sam mountain. We stayed away from the main road mostly and it was a pleasant ride. They only had a triple room left when we booked so we took that. It was huge. Very clean. It was at the back so really quiet except when the room next door turned their TV on at 5 am and the renovation workers started at 7 am! Very good shower albeit the water takes a bit of time to warm up. Beds comfortable and clean. Good WiFi. Breakfast available for 40,000 dong, either banana pancakes, eggs or bread and jam with hot drink.

Noisy hotel!

Stayed only 1 night to enjoy Christmas in Chau Doc and Christmas Eve at Chau Doc Cathedral Church. I booked on Agoda and it cost us $11, not very cheap. The room looked clean, but very small with a double bed. There are no drinking water in the room and we need to buy at the Reception. The water in the bathroom is weak, however they have hot water. Everything seem ok until we heard the noise from outside. The room is with terrible design so you can hear all the things people talk in other rooms and in the lobby. In the morning, people went out and make noises outside. We stayed downstair, not sure if they do some renovation upstair, but we can hear lot of sound of moving the furniture there. And you can see how worse it is when you are looking for a sleep after a long night. I don’t think we will come back again if we have chance to visit Chau Doc.
