Exceptional Hospitality
From the moment we walked through the door, we were warmly welcomed by John, and that level of hospitality continued throughout our entire stay.
We stayed in The Chapel, and it was spectacular in every sense of the word. Once an actual chapel, it has been beautifully converted into a guest room while retaining many of its original architectural elements and character. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully equipped with just about everything we could possibly need. Little touches made it even more special—a jar of cookies waiting for us and bottles of water placed on each side of the bed every evening.
I especially have to gloat about Lynn, the manager. What a charming, friendly, helpful, genuinely wonderful lady! She went out of her way to help us every step of the way, from arranging a car to take us to the train station to even helping us out with a wee bit of laundry. Nothing ever seemed like too much trouble, and her warmth and kindness made our stay that much more memorable.
The grounds are absolutely adorable, and the Bistro was another wonderful surprise. The food was genuinely delicious and felt like a little hidden gem in its own right.
What really sets The Cookie Jar apart is the attention to detail and exceptional hospitality. There are plenty of beautiful hotels, but it’s the people and all those thoughtful little touches that turn a stay into something you remember.
Overall, an absolutely fantastic experience. The hospitality was over-the-top wonderful, and I would return in a heartbeat.

I am delighted that your heading is "Exceptional Hospitality" - that is what we really aim to do - look after our guests with the answer always being "yes".
I am blessed with a great team who really enjoy looking after our guests and as you say, there are many beautiful hotels but without question, the staff make the difference.
I am pleased you enjoyed our garden and also dining with us - also our jar of home baked cookies!!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, fantastic food in a central location with free parking close by.

The cookie jar, Hotel
Every room has a name that represents a place in the area.
The hotel is located right next to the castle and right near the downtown area. The attention to detail in every room is incredible. It’sbeautiful, immaculate and yes, there are cookies as well in each room. I can’t wait to go back. Don’t miss this jewel in Alnwick!

I am pleased that you found the book on the history of the convent so interesting - I am blessed that a very lovely guest who stayed with us back in 2021 wrote it for me - and indeed, over the years been appreciated by so many of our guests.
