Basic but wonderful, thank you
Everything was better than expected!
We had read some less than positive reviews and wondered what to expect when we arrived but we needn't have worried!
The lady on reception wad so friendly and helpful, check in was a breeze, our room was lovely, at the front of the building with a view of the sea and Barry Island funfair.
Shower, bath, toilet and sink were spotlessly clean. Plenty of toilet roll, a bath mat and a hand towel and bath towel each.
Water was HOT and plentiful!
Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and kettle. Two cups. One spoon. When we asked for more milk on day two the lady bagged up a whole new tea and coffee package too.
The bed was RIDICULOUSLY COMFORTABLE. (We took our own pillows)
Parking was free!
There was a fan in the room BUT it was on a timer.
Honestly? A few tiny tweaks like:
Better quality pillows and 2 per person,
matching full size mugs for the tea and coffee,
two spoons,
A fan without a timer on it,
A plug socket on the other side of the room
And run a hoover over the whole place.
Otherwise, it was perfect as was!

Great location
Poor parking facilities, there's a handful of spaces available directly outside the hotel then it's best of luck trying to find a space on the nearby streets.
We had a newer type room which was clean and tidy but just to warn you the rooms are not soundproof and you can hear the music from the function room which was quite a distance away from our room so I dread to imagine what the guests could hear which were located nearer to the room! you could hear the conversation going on in other room located either next door or above you. Not the best night sleep

Great value for money!
We stayed here for four nights. Was in a great location, could walk to everything that we needed to (very close to the station, restaurants and pubs). About a half an hour walk to Barry Island. It is an uphill walk back to the hotel so be mindful if this is an issue for you.
Staff were lovely and helpful. Gave us more toilet roll on request. They gave us a sea view room.
Room was nice with comfortable bed and pillows. We took our own shower gel etc which was good as only soap provided. Tea and coffee provided. A rail for clothing but if you have alot of clothes, would recommend bringing your own hangers. No storage space like shelving etc, so other clothes were kept on windowsill. Roller blinds were good for the night, as we were front facing, we did keep these down all the time! Tv remote was a bit stuck but not an issue. WiFi worked perfectly well over the few days.
Got a few good nights sleep, only night that was noisy was when there was a wedding reception in the function room downstairs, but this was quieter after 11pm. There were guests congregating outside to smoke, which meant it was a bit awkward entering the hotel that night.
The only slight downside was the car park, in which we found a space perfectly fine as arrived early and staff took our registration number before we could check in so we could explore for a bit. However as we went to check out, a car was parked directly in front of us. This was resolved by receptionist but be wary of parking further back and don't block people in!
Overall was a lovely experience, great value for money if you are able to bring your own bits and walk to places to eat!

Staff were excellent and the room was tidy but the shower was cold and a drip like noise all night.
Also the gym isn't included which was disappointing

A glorified hostel operating under false pretences – avoid!
The only positive thing about this hotel is its location: a 20-minute walk to Barry Island and 2 minutes from the local high street. You are also just 5 minutes from Wetherspoons, which is a relief because you will need to rely on it for every single meal.
This establishment barely qualifies as a hotel and feels much closer to a run-down hostel. We were told our room was "due a refurbishment," but in its current state, it is utterly unfit for guests.
False Advertising & Missing Amenities
No food: Despite claims on their website, there is no food of any description available on-site.
Non-existent facilities: Pictures online show a swimming pool, gym, and beauty room. None of these exist.
Severe Room & Maintenance Issues
Windows: Two panes were cracked and "repaired" with what looked like Sellotape. Another window was jammed wide open, and the wooden frames were completely rotten.
Bathroom safety hazards
The heated towel rail was literally hanging off the wall, and the shower head pole fell off in our hands while in use.
A glorified hostel operating under false pretences – avoid!The multi-bulb light fitting above the sink has a broken bulb, leaving the exposed base/filament still screwed into the live socket. This poses a serious risk of electric shock and requires immediate repair.
Decor & Comfort
Stained carpets, dire decor, and no mattress protector. The only seating provided was a single, creaky, plastic school chair.
Pillow shortage
The double bed came with just two paper-thin pillows. When we asked for more, reception told us there had been a "run on them." It took multiple attempts over two days to get enough pillows to sleep comfortably.
Housekeeping Failures
No cleaning: Despite hotel information promising daily housekeeping, our room wasn't touched once during our 3-night stay.
Dirty communal areas: The corridors were unvacuumed and unswept the entire time we were there.
I could keep going, but you get the picture. Do yourself a favour and book anywhere else.
