Perfect for walkers and dog lovers

We stayed here for a short walking weekend with the dog, and the inn had everything we could want. Lovely comfortable room, great food, and most importantly super friendly and helpful staff. It was our rescue dog's first 'holiday' away from home and he couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. He had a doggy gift basket in the room, got lots of attention from staff, and even got a free sausage for breakfast. He can't wait to come back. ☺️ Thank you.

Disappointed

Very welcoming
Prompt service
Food came 1 dish superb, my dish, order wrong ordered chicken arrabiata, came no chicken! Very dry not enough sauce
When we checked the bill - charged wrong! Charged for 2 pasta dishes but only charged for one shandy. So over charged
Disappointed.

Awful

Unfortunately this is a horrible place to stay or eat. The food was cold and totally lacking any real flavour, the accommodation just felt dirty and the bar/restaurant area lacked any atmosphere beyond unwelcoming. The Peak District is beautiful, but this establishment really lets it down.

The Inn with Charm and Great Service

We arrived at the Sycamore Inn for an overnight stay. Although it's fairly rural, it's got everything you need for a short stay.
We stayed in room 3 which had all we needed for our nights stay. The bed and pillows were super comfy and everywhere looked clean.
The bathroom was clean, my only very slight criticism was the shower. It was a mixer and you had to gauge the temperature with a little fiddling with the hot and cold tap. Although this wasn't anything major to do.
Although when we went it was very quiet, and I had a very good night's sleep, we were disturbed in the morning by people talking outside our room that connected to the stairs to the main pub where the bar and restaurant was situated. Although I suppose you can get this anywhere you stay.
As the Inn is situated very close to trails it is ideal as a good base. There was a leaflet in the room giving instructions of 3 walks that can be done from there. We did walk 2 and it was very well instructed.
The hosts were very accommodating and very friendly. The breakfast is ordered the night before and well worth the money. All fresh and tasty. Vegetarian options too.
We ate in the restaurant and the food was reasonably priced and delicious and again, fresh quality. Another major plus point for stayers or visitors is you can take your dog in both the pub and restaurant. There were water bowels and doggy treats too.
Overall, our one night stay was extremely pleasurable and if we are in the area again, we would certainly call back. Would recommend a visit to The Sycamore Inn.

Dirty and Noisy Room with No Window to the Outside.

The room was dirty, with stains on the bedding and mould in the bathroom. All of the rooms are directly under the bar/restaurant, which means they are very noisy and the only window looks into the communal corridor, causing no view, no privacy and a lack of natural light.

I agree some of our rooms are under the bar & restaurant & this is no hidden fact we are a county Inn but we usually are closed by 10pm. Please see Lisa Chandler review & photos on Google the same room the next night. This man was one of the most obnoxious, rude & horrid man I have ever met he made my staff feel so uncomfortable, he upset them & customers that he was actually threatened with being asked to leave if he continued.
