Didn’t appreciate being charged £15 for parking when is free for Best Western members.
Also noted in the room that if you stay was for a number of days - you had to put a tag on your door corridor side and they would charge £7.50 per visit to have the room cleaned etc

I found the Plough and Harrow very charming. I stayed 3 nights; Friday through Sunday. At no time was it noisy or uncomfortable. There are no elevators but since there is only one upper floor, that was no big problem. The hotel wraps around in a horseshoe shape and there are minor steps up and down to get to my room, but another guest told me that I could have gone the other way around, which I never did. The full English breakfast was very nice, and some of my friends had their various cheeses and pastries, coffees, teas, and juices all in the elegant main dining area. Within easy walking distance were several interesting pubs and restaurants. The Physician was notable among them, although the High Field restaurant was also pleasant. Also, within short walking distance is the tram that gets you into town, one way for 2.50 GBP (also known as Quids), or 5 Quid for the day. In town, I went to the Old Crown pub, the oldest in Birmingham, and it did not disappoint.

Had to pay £15 to park in their car park because I booked through hotels.com but apparently parking is free if you book direct which is annoying. The older part of the building is lovely but the more modern block where we were staying looked very tired from the outside. Our room was nice inside. Clean and well maintained but so, so hot. The sun was facing our window in the morning which super heated the room and the one fan between the three of us did nothing to help and none of us slept well. We were a bit disappointed to discover that the restaurant was not open on Friday/Saturday/Sunday evenings, not every day as stated on their Hotels.com listing. They did say that if we ordered food in, they would provide plates and cutlery but we decided it was easier to go out somewhere for dinner. Breakfast was nice. The food was all cooked well and replenished frequently in small batches so nothing was sat out for too long.

Great staff

Carly is an absolute asset to your business. As a solo women traveller she made me feel extra special, accommodating everything for me so that I had the most comfortable stay ever. Brilliant member of staff she made my visit and couldn’t be more helpful! Thank you Carly - room was lovely and so was the bar area and barman!
