Idyllic location

The B&b is well located for exploring the north Cornwall area. The owners Steve and Flavio are really friendly and helpful. Our room was a little bit on the small size but had a wonderful view of the countryside and sea. Coastal path is just a 5 minute walk. Breakfast was excellent and good options for different dietary needs. The decor is quite eclectic. We didn't find it noisy at all with the rescue animals. If your not an animal lover, this place isn't for you. Overall value for money.

Warmest welcome and stay

I did not want to leave! A good location and felt like staying with old friends. Nothing too much trouble and breakfasts set you up for the day. Enjoyed having animals around and definitely value for money. Flavio and Steve thank you so much .

We stayed for 2 nights, Flávio and Steve made us feel so welcome and could not do enough for us

Worst B & B ever

We are generous caring people, how ever when you spend nearly a hundred pounds for 1 night off season, you would expect a certain level of cleanliness and respect! There were neither at Upton cross
Greeted by dog mess and a condom on the gravel driveway, went in to a musty smell of wet dog and cigarettes, taxidermy, cluttered and ancient belongings, there was nothing “ fresh “ about the place at all! Shown to room which was small, tatty and gloomy, this was directly opposite the kitchen, had old bedding, hard towels and dressing gowns.
We decided not to stay and just come home as it felt so dated and smelly, not somewhere you would choose anytime to stay but particularly not our anniversary! ..We left!
I called to explain our reasons and he was extremely rude to me. Not had rudeness like this in years!
We did get a refund as was booked through booking.com
But seriously HOW anyone gives this place more than 1 star is beyond us!
The whole experience was so diabolical it actually had us in hysterics in the end as it was so terrible!

Stay cut short- staff verbally aggressive

Booked for the week but only stayed one night. Positives- beautiful views location and cute animals. Breakfast hot and quite tasty. Lots of original features in the house. Coastal path can be accessed outside the property.
Negatives- Room very dusty, moldy windows on the glass towels rough and threadbare. Rubbish left in drawers. At Breakfast- 2 small dogs under the table throughout licking my feet and Sitting on them. One then had a poo next to the table. None of the owners were around to keep them in check. We are dog lovers and knew there were a number of dogs but they should be under control when serving food. Spoke to flavio to give them an opportunity to put things right and clean the roome etc but both became verbally aggressive. Stated they knew we were trouble due to were we lived and expected five star. Refused to let me speak and stated we were not welcome and nothing they did would be enough as we wanted to cause trouble. Stated they had heared enough from us and never had a bad review in all the time they ran the place. A further search through reviews proves this to be a lie
