In the picturesque village of Tintern, nestled in the heart of the Wye Valley and a short walk from Tintern Abbey, this former rectory has stunning views of the river. There is free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. Guests can relax in the garden, which has outdoor seating for the warmer months, and views of the river – where swans can often be seen on the water. Deer and other woodland animals can also be seen from time to time. Rooms at Tintern Old Rectory are elegant, light, and traditionally furnished. Features include flat-screen satellite TV, an en suite bathroom, and tea and coffee making facilities. Guests can play croquet on site, and there are binoculars to borrow for anyone wishing to go birdspotting. Dean Forest can be reached in around 15 minutes’ drive. This property will not accommodate hen, stag or similar parties. Pets can only be accommodated in two room types at the property, the Superior Suite and the Premium Quadruple Room. Idyllic setting for an exceptional B and B

Super B and B in a lovely area of countryside. Owner was very welcoming and helpful . As well as the bedroom facilities there was the use of a downstairs lounge and seating area in the garden for guests. Exceptionally clean with super white bedlinen and towels. At breakfast there was an excellent choice ( made on the morning ) of food . The porridge was excellent and we had it with yoghurt and a very well prepared fruit salad which contained an impressive variety of fruit. The choice of cooked breakfast was equally impressive.
It was a lovely 2 night relaxing break.

Avoid the place and don’t trust the reviews on Airbnb.

We were 3 families who booked this place for 3 nights to bring in new year. We reached a little after 6pm and left the place by 11:30 the same night. The place was nothing like in the pictures. We entered and found the whole place dirty, it was smelling, there was broken furniture, stained floors, flush not working. The ground floor toilet was horrible to use. The cabinets were dirty. The floor definitely not clean. We would definitely encourage the owner to have a deep clean and upgrade the place.

Great place to stay. Host was friendly and house was beautifully laid out.

Anika is a great host who did everything to make my stay perfect. It was a great base to see Tintern. The place is cheerful and full of character. I only saw the reviews below which totally out of line with my experience.

Not a good experience staying here

I would not recommend this place at all. We stayed here recently as a family of 10. The property was not what we expected. On arrival we were met by anika who seemed nice at first. Unfortunately when we entered the property it was smelly dusty in places & alot of cobwebs around the place it also had a strong smell of stale urine. The upstairs was better & bedrooms cleaner but unfortunately one of the bedrooms had a loose tile leading to the ensuite which unfortunately we weren't made aware of & one of our family caught her foot on it & split her toes badly so was unable to get shoes on for the rest of our stay. The sad part of this is on reporting this to anika she didn't even reply or ask how her guest was. Since our return home one of us has recieved very negative messages from anika which I think is not a very good way to run a business.

Poor

Disappointed 3 night stay with family. 1st night I had an accident in bedroom. Loose tiles and cement on bathroom floor. Split 3 of my toes and the owner didn't even ask how i was. She was only concerned about my blood on the carpet and laughingly said I probably did it on a broken alcohol glass . Also smells of urine and damp
