Great attention to detail & service

Brilliant hotel, comfortable rooms and great service, lovely location as well. The hotel location is very good, nice to walk the canal with the dog, especially as the hotel is dog friendly too

Disappointed.

We have had many enjoyable times over the years at the Cheshire Cat. The food has always been good and the staff have always been very attentive. However a recent visit on the May Bank Holiday left us feeling very let down and very disappointed. I had booked and spoken to the manager saying it was for five of us , one with celiac disease. They would need to see the gluten free menu. We arrived just after 6pm and our starters began to arrive just after 7.30. We spoke to numerous waitresses who all said the delay was because of the gluten free meal. I had forewarned them so they should have been prepared. Also there was only one chef on who had only just qualified. I did not need to know that. Surely on a very sunny Bank Holiday extra staff would have been on duty to manage the high demands. The food was very good, no complaints there. It was the excuses we were given and the time it took to serve our food. Bearing in mind we were a family group with child and we do not get together very often. It was a special time. Apparently the kitchen had to be cleared and the food cooked from scratch. I felt very embarrassed and sorry for our guest who was mortified that we all had to wait so long because of her requirements. We have never had this problem before. It was not a very good experience for any of us.

Excellent place to stay

Fantastic experience at the Cheshire Cat. Rooms were in the annexe, very spacious, clean and comfortable beds. Very peaceful. Excellent, knowledgeable staff and lovely food. Highly recommend.

A nice stay

Stayed for one night as we came to Chester to check out the Christmas market and fancied a night away. Lots of parking, room was very nice - small but more than adequate for one night. Bed was super comfy and in a separate block away from pub so no noise. Tea and coffee in room which is a nice touch. Breakfast was lovely and was included in price. Ate at the pub on the evening and food was tasty. Pub itself was nice but starting to look a bit tired and ready for decorating in my opinion. Still had a nice time though and would stay there again if we ever go back to Chester. Walked into centre from hotel along the canal - approx 45 minutes walk.

Disappointing

Stayed for 2 nights and met with family for evening meal. Food was very good. Staff were excellent. However, we barely slept as bed was so firm. Maybe 3 hours sleep each night and then too tired during dsy
