Pleasant experience

Very good welcome in reception. Room was adequate, clean but quite dated , especially bathroom. Nice touch the complimentary whisky. Dinner was very good , a varied choice. Many people opted for pizzas which looked very good and not too expensive. We had fish & chips which was excellent. There were also lots of other options . Negronis in the bar after dinner made the day too! Breakfast was very good , well presented and explained by Daniel. The home made granola was a nice touch. A very pleasant stay. They are obviously in process of updating certain areas so it can only get better. The one negative point for me was the bed, very noisy , squeaky when you turn over and the mattress very soft. Good location.

Lovely room - poor breakfast

Comfortable room. Woken by an intermittent alarm in the morning. Dinner - main course was lovely. Pudding a disappointment. Breakfast - very poor at this price point. Holiday Inn Express offer a better breakfast experience. Hot items (self serve) were limited to bacon and greasy fried eggs only.

Rude manager

We visited this establishment on the 3rd June and although we had a very nice meal and the waiting staff were amazing the same cannot be said for the very very ignorant and rude restaurant manager.
It was chaos in the bar where us and several other people were eating , caused by the constant traffic of golfers trying to check in laden with golf bags and luggage!
When my husband politely asked if the manager thought this was excessive, he was met with a barrage of abuse dismissed and told to return to his seat.
In the subsequent two weeks we spent in Scotland found the people very friendly and we had a wonderful trip marred only by this awful man’s rudeness ( he was Australian ) says it all !

Im afraid your husband was anything but calm & friendly when he approached the manager in question. No introduction was offered and some choice words were used at a volume, while we suggested moving to a quiet space as not to disrupt surrounding diners.
Upon completing the guest check-in our manager approached you to discuss a positive outcome, only to be berated with verbal abuse and called a joke. Mistakes happen Mandy and its a shame you resorted to Tripadvisor to slam a family run business that works exceptionally hard to ensure high standards of customer care in a small village in the far north highlands.

The whiskey lovers paradise

OK this was the most expensive stop on our trip but it was worth every penny. Lovely hotel excellent room fantastic breakfast and its own little distillery. There were even whiskey tasters in the room and a whiskey bar downstairs. The staff were so friendly and we even had a chat with "mini tour" (because it is so tiny) with the master distiller.
Excellent, Excellent.
