First Wedding Anniversary
We had a wonderful stay celebrating our first wedding anniversary, we stayed in the Fergy room, compact as advertised.
The room was spotless and comfortable, Everything felt fresh, clean, and well cared for throughout our stay.
What really stood out was the staff, everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile.
The food in the restaurant was a definite highlight, easily 10/10, with delicious dishes and great quality throughout. The only slight downside was that the bar area was very rowdy on the night of our stay which took away a little from the otherwise calm atmosphere.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience with stunning views, excellent service, and amazing food. We would definitely return for another special occasion.

Overpriced but decent enough
Overpriced and cramped room. The location is good and the room was quite stylish but it was over priced. We paid £250 for a tiny room with no view and a small wet room. If it had been priced at say £160, our expectations would have managed and we would have rated it quite highly! We are staying tonight in the centre of Rye in a beautiful large room for £180. So it’s all about value for money. The restaurant Rocksalt was excellent as was breakfast. But the rooms are way too expensive for what you get.

First Class
We stayed in a sea view Rocksalt room, we were greeted and taken to our room by a friendly chap, the room facilities were explained and water provided. Dinner was amazing, our anniversary was wonderful. Each course was delicious - whipped goats cheese, prawns, steak, mussels and a gypsy tart that was divine. Staff were friendly and very attentive, we had a lovely evening. Breakfast was included and the ingredients were all very well chosen and delivered beautifully. Full English and the most beautiful granola, no rushing and again excellent service. We can’t thank you enough for making our anniversary so special, we will visit again.

Beautiful bolt hole
We loved it - if you’re looking for a beautiful bolt-hole as the website describes the rooms this it. Warm welcome in the restaurant. No delay checking in, taken to the room, beautiful room with everything you could need. There’s a case stand to put your bag on. Bottler water, tea and coffee. Bathrobes. Plenty of towels and the most amazing view.
Outside in the hall there are nail files, ear plugs, rocksalt rock. The only thing we could think that was missing was maybe a biscuit or two.
Breakfast was also excellent. Friendly service, everything but alcohol included.
It’s not designed for more than a weekend stay but if you fancy a drink in the restaurant and not driving home. This is the place to book!
Outside in the hall there are nail files, ear plugs, rocksalt rock. The only thing we could think that was missing was maybe a biscuit or two.
Breakfast was also excellent. Friendly service, everything but alcohol included.

5 stars again.
I last stayed here in 2018 and gave it a 5 star review then. Well it gets another five stars this time as well. From a lovely welcome from Ginger to the chef who agreed to my having dinner even though the kitchen was officially closed and the three staff in the wine bar who were so friendly everything was perfect.
Some things have changed and for the better. There are now lights in the outside walls so no dark alleys to walk down to get to the rooms. Breakfast is a little different with it being served in the wine bar rather than in a small hamper in the room Great care was certainly taken over it. I had the full English twice and the buttermilk pancakes once. I can highly recommend them both. I also recommend the home made lemonade. Delicious.
I stayed in Fergy, which was just perfect. Spotless, comfortable, masses of fluffy towels
Tips. Be prepared for some noise from the fish market in the mornings. It's just the way it is. Service charge already on the bill. This is the only thing I found disappointing. If service is good then I always tip accordingly. I feel it should be my choice and not the restaurant's.
Finally, the rooms and the restaurant are perfectly situated. A short walk to the sandy beach one way, the harbour arm the other way.
